UEF celebrating the Opening Ceremony and 23 billion VND scholarship given to students

On September 23, 2016, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) officially held the 2016/17 academic year Opening Ceremony and the Anniversary of the 9^th university establishment at the City Hall. There was a solemn and joyful atmosphere filled with emotion at the ceremony.

The event was organized with the participation of Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung – Deputy Director, Vice-President of Representing Office of Ministry of Education and Training at Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Pham Ngoc Thanh –Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, Mr. Pham Thien Kha – Permanent Deputy Secretary of Communist Party Committee of colleges and vocational schools block at HCMC, Mr. Le Van Nhung – Head of Division, People Committee of Ho Chi Minh city, together with representatives of different departments and unions in the city, partnership enterprises, Board of Trustees, Administrators, all the university’s staff, freshmen and their parents.
 
During the opening remark of the new academic year, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Giang congratulated all the freshmen of 2016 course on officially becoming members of UEF. On behalf of the Administration Board, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Giang also made a promise to devote all efforts to establish a modern study environment that helps contribute to training students to become citizens with both talent and morality and to provide the well-qualified workforce to the society.

The ceremony was an occasion not only to welcome a new academic year but also to summarize and award university’s staff having great contributions to the development of UEF in the previous year.
 
By the occasion, UEF awarded 999 scholarships to freshmen having outstanding results in the 2016 university recruitment. 38 of those were fully funded scholarships, other 381 were 50% funded and the last 580 were 25% funded. Moreover, UEF also awarded 24 talent scholarships to students of other courses and many encouraging ones to members of the Youth Union, Students’s Association and university’s clubs. The total cost of scholarships was up to 23 billion VND.
 
Besides, UEF also supported new students with 618 free preparatory English courses (approximately 3.7 billion VND). Particularly, 28 enterprises also donated scholarships in cash and in kind to UEF Scholarship Foundation with the total value was over 1 billion VND.
 
Also in the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung – Deputy Director of Representative Office of Ministry of Education and Training in Ho Chi Minh city highly appreciated the efforts of UEF’s staffs in gaining breakthrough achievements. UEF has affirmed its own position and brand name in the universities community. In the future, it is expected that the university Administrators would continue to invest in facilities, improve the training method, develop teaching staffs both in quality and quantity, ensure talents fostering, and enhance intellectual standards of the people towards international integration.
 
The inaugural drum strongly resounded in the excitement of all the staffs and students of the university. Accompanying that inspirational drum sound, hundreds of balloon was flying high in the sky, representing the dreams of the young generation. All pointed to a successful school year with strong determination, dynamic, creativity, and willing to integrate.

During the last 9 years of establishing and developing, UEF has always endured the strength of being the university training high-quality human resources in many aspects. Due to the prestige and the strong points of the university, Ministry of Education and Training in Ho Chi Minh city has entrusted UEF with the task of training new ologies in 2016 in order to furnish more quality human resources to the country’s economy and society. Ministry of Education and Training in Ho Chi Minh city has recently signed the decision 3521/QĐ-BGDĐT dated on September 15, 2016 to entrust the university with training Hospitality Management, full-time mode university level, code D340103. UEF is now training courses of master, college with full-time mode, articulation, second degree and in-service program, etc. UEF students have been known to have good background knowledge and expertise, particularly fluent foreign language skill. The university’s education quality has always been highly appreciated by the employer partners. According to the Centre of Enterprise Relations, 100% of students after graduation can capture the appropriate career opportunities, 80% of students have the job in accordance with their specialized course, and 30% of students get a job during the internship at leading companies, corporations, and commercial banks.
