UEF Celebrates Christmas With Students From Brunei

As the last days of 2019 are drawing near, UEF’s ties of international friendship grows with the appearance of students from Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (ISSA), Brunei.
On Dec 24, UEF and ISSA students joined side by side in academic exchange activities in the warm and merry Christmas atmosphere.

ISSA students arrived at UEF at Christmas

ISSA delegate to UEF is led by Dr. Abd Nasir bin Haji Abd Rani, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Finance, along with two lecturers Hajah Nurul Nabilah bte Haji Ali and Md Khairul Hidayatullah bin Hj Basir. They were received by Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President of UEF, and many other staff members.
Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc began the meeting by giving a welcome speech to ISSA delegate. He also highlighted the fact that ISSA was the first university from Brunei to visit and have an exchange event with UEF. Geared towards international cooperation, UEF hoped that its students could gain access to progressive education from around the world, he added. Hopefully, UEF and ISSA would have more cooperation opportunities in the future.

In reply to the warm welcome from UEF, ISSA representatives shared that they knew Vietnam as a startup hub; therefore, they wished to bring students to the country for learning and research. They also hoped the meeting would connect the two institutions in the spirit of common interests.

The meeting was made more excited by music exchange with performances from the students of both universities. After that, posing against the colorful Christmas background, the students captured great photos together.

Nice souvenirs marked the first meeting between the two institutions.

Throughout the connection program, Dr. Tran Duc Tuan, a lecturer from International Institute, will deliver general knowledge of financial investment and entrepreneurial models in Vietnam to students rom both universities. Also, he will share stories of success and hardships, and what qualities an entrepreneur should have. This is the insight that ISSA students aspire to gather from the exchange trip.
Additionally, since a trip to Vienam wouldn’t be complete without learning about Vietnamese culture, UEF students took time to present to the Bruneian students about the country and culture of Vietnam, from places of interest to friendly people and local delicacies. In turn, ISSA introduced to UEFers about the country, people and learning environment in Brunei.

This academic exchange program has enlarged UEF’s 2019 map of international cooperation as well as UEFers’ list of global friends. It also helps UEF students to learn more about the fascinating culture and learning environment of a country of peace – Brunei.
