01/19/2021

With the desire to help UEF students spread the mutual love spirit and learn more practical skills from real life, the Center of Service Learning has launched many evocative projects in 2020.

The event to review Service - Learning projects was held on the morning of January 16th with the theme "Journey of Love", so that the UEFers could look back on the positivity that has radiated over the past year, and at the same time express gratitude to the community organizations and donors that have contributed to the success of projects.

Participating in the review event, there were the presences of Dr. Nhan Cam Tri – Vice President of the University, Mr. Bui Quang Dong - Director of Center of Service Learning, Mr. Nguyen Huynh Sinh - Deputy Head of Student Services Department, and the leaders of the community projects.

In 2020, the Center of Service Learning has organized various projects, notably “Dance class for children of Kim Dong Club”, “Rotation”, “Documenting visualization”, and “Heart to hand”.

Upon interacting with the children of Kim Dong Club, the representative of the project "Dance class for children" shared, "Working with children is difficult because most children are excessively energetic and sometimes do not behave. But after all the time practicing and playing with them, we have come to successfully assist the children in achieving their goals. As a result, the children had presented well-done dance performances."

Accordingly, the message of this dance teaching project was "Learning as you practice", knowing where we stand and what our limits are. This project aimed to spread positive energy to everyone through exciting dance moves. The project’s team also mentioned they would still go ahead and help the children discover their own skills that have not yet been revealed.

With the drawing capacity, the Document Visualization and Rotation projects’ team has conveyed meaningful messages. Particularly, the visualize documents (sketch note) project presented a method to use visualization to help create an effective, lively, and non-boring learning method for the students. At the same time, the project also makes it easier for parents to communicate information to children with hearing disabilities, brain and language disorders.

Unlike Sketch note, the Rotation project’s group presented the project using the freehand drawing method. The purpose of the project is to join hands to form unity, joy, and spread freedom. The project is expected to take place after Tet, after the many training sessions that have been held for the members.

With the same goal of spreading love, the Heart to Hand project expresses the hope to make a difference, produce a source of quality volunteers, and form a sustainable connection between the volunteers and the community. This project has 4 main activities, including translation for Jupiter class, Venus class, Mars class, and Venus class. The main content of the 4 activities revolves around teaching children with hearing and other difficulties.

After listening to the projects’ groups’ presentations, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri shared a piece of his thoughts, “The students have done many meaningful things. Through these activities, they have added more motivating lessons and this is an also experience to help you develop your career in the future. UEF students should be young people with compassionate hearts that are full of love.

In addition to these projects, gaining knowledge through service learning is also integrated into a number of subjects. This is the core activity that the Center for Service Learning wants to spread in the UEF learning environment.
