UEF awards 40 special scholarships to outstanding Laos - Cambodian students
NOVEMBER 27 - The Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City and the Lao Student Dormitory jointly organized a commendation event to honor outstanding Lao and Cambodian students in 2021. The event, where 6 Lao UEFers are among 107 students honored, aimed to motivate and encourage their learning and working spirit.
During the session, UEF Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President and Director of UEF International Institute, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc discussed prevalent challenges in 2021 and offered the University's scholarships which help broaden their international study prospects. In addition, UEF awarded 20 full-tuition scholarships in Vietnamese Studies and 20 full-tuition scholarships in English Language in 2021 to typical Lao and Cambodian students living and studying in Ho Chi Minh City. Some of the students have voiced their emotions and shared their prior experiences.

6 Lao UEF-ers were among the 107 students honored.
Mr. Sok Dareth, Consul General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City; Mrs. Phimpha Keomixay, Consul General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City; and Comrade Tran Thu Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Ho Chi Minh City were all honored guests at this event. Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President and Director of UEF International Institute, and Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Lan, Deputy Director of UEF Center of IT and Foreign Languages, represented UEF. Soulivong Konglar, Boualapha Sompasert, Sorphavong Kitar, Xayaphanthong Anoukone, Sonephanh Souphaphone, and Vilayphon Phetmany were among the honored students.
6 UEF students were named in the commendation list this year.
The celebration grew further significant since it took place in the Month of the Kingdom of Cambodia's Independence Day (November 9, 1953 - November 9, 2021) and on the eve of the Lao People's Democratic Republic's 46th Independence Day (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2021). The event was to recognize students’ excellent achievements and build friendships across the countries. In this event, UEF introduced the students to our two new Undergraduate programs and career prospects.

The Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City has so far honored 908 outstanding students from Laos and Cambodia studying at universities and academies across the city.

UEF is becoming more renowned as the years pass, thanks to the vibrant colors brought by students from all over the world. Students from Laos and Cambodia paid close attention to UEF and Ho Chi Minh City thanks to this commendation activity. UEF has been and will continue to be a prominent higher education institution that may attract a plurality of students due to its efforts to provide several incentives to foreign students and to create a dynamic modern international environment.
