UEF - Gloucestershire: class of 2021 graduates with pride

“Congratulations! I would like to congratulate every one of you on your graduation day. It has taken hard work, dedication, and commitment to successfully finish the challenging program you signed up for 4 years ago. You did it! The UoG and UEF community are proud of you!”. That was the opening of the heartfelt remarks by Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President and Director of UEF International Institute at the graduation ceremony on December 18.

The Gloucestershire Graduation Ceremony 2021 welcomed the presence of Mr. Oliver Todd - the British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Hoa Pham - the representative of UoG in Vietnam, Mr. Pham Ngoc Quang Trung – Director of Horizon TESOL English Teacher Training Center, Mr. Pham Minh Huy - the representative of Ho Chi Minh City TESOL Association, Ms. Vu Phuong Thao - Academic Manager at IELTS Ed-Space, Lecturer Pham Thi Mong Lanh - UoG alumni.

 

From UEF, there was the Board of Management, UEF International Institute, Deans of faculties, faculty members, staff, parents, and fresh graduates at this 2021 graduation ceremony. 

 

Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc delivered a warm message to UoG fresh graduates.

 

“2021 is one of the most chaotic years in education history. The COVID-19 pandemic has created the largest disruption of education systems, not only in Vietnam but everywhere in the world. However, all the students of the UK program at UEF have successfully fulfilled the requirements, passed the final exams, and graduated from this program. Congratulations! I would like to congratulate every one of you on your graduation day. It has taken hard work, dedication, and commitment to successfully finish the challenging program you have signed up for 4 years ago. You did it! UoG and UEF community are proud of you! I wish you the best of luck on your new journey!”, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President and Director of UEF International Institute, congratulated the fresh graduates on their achievements, representing UEF.

 

Mr. Oliver Todd acknowledge their tremendous efforts and honored their achievements

 

At the ceremony, Mr. Oliver Todd, the British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, acknowledged the students’ pursuit of this academic endeavor amid the complex COVID-19 evolution and sent heartfelt wishes for their rewarding and successful career, by which time they should become global citizens with the Gloucestershire bachelor's degrees in their hand.

​​“Every year’s graduation ceremony is special but this year is truly exceptional because of the disruption caused all around the world by the coronavirus pandemic. This year we're not just celebrating the academic achievements and qualifications of our students but also celebrating the courage, resilience, and determination all of you have shown to keep going through the pandemic. We’re celebrating the exceptional commitment and professionalism of all UEF’s staff doing their very best to continue teaching and provide excellent support for the students. Here we are celebrating the love and care of parents, families, and friends who supported students in their dark times and help them to stick with us as they take their exams and assessments and carry on with the successful achievements that were applauded today”, said Prof. Marston Stephen, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Gloucestershire.

 

Scholarships and awards recognizing the academic excellence of new bachelors

 

The first-batch graduates of the Gloucestershire Bachelor’s Program include students enrolled in English Language and Linguistics; Business and Marketing Management. Statistics show that 30% of students of this batch are employed in reputable enterprises, 16% graduated with First Class Honours.

 

Paid off for hard study and effort, Dam Chi Dat and Bui Khac Hoa were honored as the two valedictorians in the graduation ceremony. In addition to awards for their great academic performance, the University of Gloucestershire granted each of the two with the highest GPA a half-fee Master scholarship, each is valued at 240 million VND. 

 

Valedictorians honored in the pride of teachers, parents

 

Nguyen Thi Sen, a parent of Tran Duy Khoa, one of the First Class Honours graduates, shared in her pride: “I am very happy that my child accomplished the international university program with amazing achievements and received awards from the University of Gloucestershire. With orientation to pursue an education career, right in his school time, he even worked as a part-time teacher at foreign language centers. Now, he may continue studying to gain a pedagogical certificate. I hope my child, as well as today’s other fresh graduates, can keep a firm mind to head up to the future and never be daunted by challenges.”

UEF International Institute Alumni officially launched 

 

I am so elated to be in this graduation ceremony of my child today. To be honest, I focused on my business when she studied on her own and gained great accomplishments, which is a great pleasure to me ”, Ms. Pham Thi Kha - whose daughter was fresh graduate Phan Thi Chau Sa, was moved to share

 

Phan Thi Chau Sa, a fresh graduate of English Language and Linguistics, expressed her thoughts about the four-year learning journey: “I’m bright and cheerful that we can altogether graduate. My personal goal is to become an English teacher and work as a translator. In the near future, I would like to find a job in a foreign language center to gain more hands-on experience. I find the Gloucestershire Program very beneficial and practical for it provided us with the advantage in employability and our job careers. Wishing the best for all.”

 

The graduation ceremony marks the end of the learning journey at UEF but opens new horizons for Gloucestershire Program’s fresh graduates. May they keep their confidence and thrive with their strengths to go further on the path they choose as well as make contributions to family and society.
