UEF Trio Ready to Thrive in Japan Internship with Advanced Skills and Language Competence

07/18/2024

UEF students received valuable support and encouragement from Dr. Vo Van Thanh Than - Dean, Faculty of Languages and International Cultures; Mr. Huynh Quoc Phong - Director, Center of Corporate Partnerships and Mr. Nguyen Viet Thuy - Deputy Dean, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

On behalf of the partners, representatives from IFK Company and Palcall Tsumagoi Resort were directly engaged in the interview.

Attending the interview were three highly motivated individuals from the 2021 intake, all possessing exceptional talent and strong foreign language abilities: Truong Tran Thao Quyen and Le Nguyen Yen Ly from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Tu Phuong Quynh from the Faculty of Business Administration.

The 3 UEFers were interviewed online by the Japanese representatives.

At the interview, each candidate was given approximately 10 minutes to introduce themselves and answer questions from the recruiters. Most of the discussions revolved around each individual's daily habits, soft skills, perspectives, and approaches to handling common situations related to their chosen fields. With confidence and a solid knowledge base, all three UEFers demonstrated skillful responses, showcasing their responsiveness, adaptability, and deep-rooted love for Japan.

Specifically, with a strong desire to prove themselves, many students even used Japanese to answer questions, leaving a strong impression on the Japanese partners. A solid foundation in foreign languages serves as the first stepping stone for students' smooth transition into a new workplace replete with opportunities and challenges. In addition to encouraging the spirit of self-study, UEF also regularly organizes language and Japanese culture refresher courses to provide practical skills and knowledge, helping students confidently conquer new milestones.

The students have showcased their confidence and specialized knowledge.

During this 6-month internship program at Palcall Tsumagoi Resort Hotel in Japan, students will be involved in specific tasks related to the hospitality industry, such as ensuring the standards of bedrooms, common areas, and the lobby; food preparation; and restaurant service. Throughout the program, the partner will ensure that the interns receive commensurate benefits, including salary, insurance, company-provided dormitories, and uniforms. This creates a friendly and ideal environment for students to make the most of this invaluable experience by learning and successfully completing their work.

In addition, after working hours, participants have the opportunity to gain first-hand insights into the Land of the Rising Sun through visits to famous tourist attractions and training sessions on fire prevention, disaster coping, and Japanese cuisine preparation. Through this opportunity, it is believed that UEFers will acquire a wide range of professional skills and practical experiences, deepen their understanding of Japanese culture, people, and the country, enhance their Japanese language proficiency, and expand their international network of friends.

At the end of the interview, UEF and its partners will select the two most suitable candidates to participate in the internship program. We believe that these experiences will bring many memorable moments and help students identify their strengths and weaknesses to continue developing further.
