Be a university student at 27 and the wholehearted journey for knowledge

Inspired by Phung Nguyen Ai My, freshman of Marketing Faculty, the story was about her “learning” journey to university. The story from UEF Family gave us warmth in the end-year days.

I am Phung Nguyen Ai My, a university student at age 27. I define myself as an enthusiast and perfectionist which urged me to be careful in every personal plan. However, no one is absolutely perfect. As for me, I used to get stuck in university decisions. Besides, my slogan seems quite simple. It is “Diversity is a key to balance.” Regarding it, my best priority is to respect every individual in society. 

Once I quit my job to get back to university, I unceasingly wondered about this upstream decision. However, I persuaded myself that the real “weird” decision will define my future in the next 20 years. I believe to see myself in 20 years later as my double upgraded version. Deciding to be a university student at 27 is regarded as a standard evaluation of my abilities and an answer for my bravery to achieve further and more challenging goals. 

On these thoughts, I decided to be one of UEF students despite many incredulities related to the word “Why?”. 

I did found my great collective 

Before enrolling, I spent my most time searching for Marketing, what to study and how to study. After the first days, I quickly became familiar with the teaching method of university and made friends with my classmates. 

At first, I considered the most difficulty is the age gap which makes my journey to knowledge become challenging. Contrastively, I was surprised at the hospitality of this collective. Each member of the 20D1MK01 class is my sentimental gift. 

Each individual has their unique competences which add in diversity and fill the gap. I can’t help astonish that 18-19 years students can complete their task excellently when working together. 

This collective does not only show me their competence and progressive but also wholehearted dedication to common goals. I experienced being voted for group leader, monitor. Now I am an external affair at Marketing Inspiring Power (IMP). The trust of the collective seems as “fire” which urges me to live for knowledge and discover new things. 

A good collective is a basement for individuals explore their abilities 

“If you want something you've never had. You must be willing to do something you've never done.” To me, I am doing my life for what I have never had. 

To go further, you have to earn respect and responsibility

In this recent era, information is gold and responsibility is an essential part in organization. 

I always try to create healthy competition in clubs and classes. Of course, I can’t give a big hand in collective growth based on one individual. 

For me, no matter how small it is, once you start doing it, you have to accept failure. It is essential to accept the trial, failure then error and find proper solutions. 

I want to apply a module of organization structure from base level to perfect one in my learning environment which can help other members understand about real organization structure. This is also what I have done for the 20D1MK01 class. 

Talking about our slogan “We’re gifted by each other”, I assumpted that “Never before have I gone to school enthusiastically. I used to think that getting back to university is just a trial. In reality, I am lucky to meet the good collective.” We regard each other as gifts for life to respect and grow together. Our weapon is diversity and enduring contribution. I hope that we will gain more successful achievements in future at UEF.
