08/22/2023

AUGUST 22 - In the morning, the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures coordinated with the IFK partner to interview 13 students for a long-term internship at the Senoumi Hotel, Japan

This time, the Faculty will select four candidates with excellent performances in the direct interview conducted by the enterprise representatives to become official interns. All 13 UEFers have successfully completed their interviews and are now awaiting the results.

All 13 candidates performed well in front of the international enterprise

The interview took place online, with the participation of IFK's representative in Vietnam - Mr. Nguyen Phuong Trinh, and in Japan - Mr. Nakayama Ken, along with the recruitment representative from Senoumi - Mr. Toru Tanabe.

In addition, Dr. Vo Van Thanh Than - Dean, Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, was also present to encourage and motivate students. Before the interview, sensing the nervousness and apprehension among the students, he reassured them and shared insights, helping UEFers regain their composure and confidence to perform their best in front of the recruiters.

UEFers mentally and professionally prepared before the interview

Senoumi is located in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Here, UEFers will experience various hospitality and restaurant-related roles, including Ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of bedrooms, guest reception areas, and common spaces at all times; Working as a chef assistant; Working in customer service; Catering; Giving instruction on table etiquette; etc. Additionally, during this period, students can experience Japanese culture; Learn Japanese culinary techniques, Engage in fire safety and disaster response training; Learn hygiene management; as well as Exchange cultures, and learn practical Japanese language.

It is known that UEF had previously sent 6 students to Senoumi Hotel for internships through two similar interview sessions.

13 students completed this morning's interview. They confidently communicated with the Japanese employers. UEFers also didn't hesitate to “showcase” their other foreign languages, such as English and Chinese. The students had thoroughly prepared themselves with information about Senoumi, which greatly enhanced their understanding and confidence in responding effectively to the company's questions.

Each student had about 5 minutes per interview with the business

However, some students only had fair performances in their interviews. Perhaps the nervousness prevented them from presenting their best in front of the international business. Whatever the outcome, they all did their best. With only four positions reserved for four outstanding candidates, the rest can take this as a valuable experience to look forward to the next opportunities in the future.

According to the selection criteria, students with fluent Japanese and practical work experience from part-time jobs or active participation in university activities will leave a strong impression on employers. In addition, the ability to understand and utilize other foreign languages such as English and Chinese will be a bonus for UEFers in the eyes of employers.

The 13 candidates expressed their appreciation to the organizations for the international internship interview opportunity

UEF's Internship program in Japan has been remarkably successful in the recent past. The university is actively seeking and fostering collaborations with more businesses in the near future to further expand international learning and internship opportunities for UEFers.
