SEPTEMBER 27 - The Faculty of Public Relations and Communication and Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC), Malaysia organized a co-teaching class, where students from both universities had a chance to present and discuss the topic “Crisis Management”.
From UEF, the class had Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President & Director, International Institute, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Thi Hong Ha – Dean, Faculty of Public Relations and Communication, Ms. Hoang Mi – Deputy Dean, Faculty of Public Relations and Communication. From TAR UC, there were Dr. Syamsul Zahri Subir – Associate Dean, Department of Communication and Dr. Lim Lai Hoon – Senior Lecturer, Department of Communication.

Co-teaching class successfully held on September 27
Starting the class, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc welcomed and thanked TAR UC representatives. He shared that UEF was heading toward the aim of internationalizing the university environment, so this class was a great opportunity for students to connect and exchange knowledge.

Also on this topic, TAR UC students gave a realistic example of a train tunnel incident that happened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2021. Based on the solution of the project investor, the team also made assessments and drew a number of separate judgments including reacting quickly when the problem occurs, expressing sincere apologies, taking actions to minimize damage, and providing appropriate compensation to the injured.
In the segment on crisis resolution, Group 2 brought up the problem related to cheating in exams. The establishment of a problem-solving process from preparation, implementation to the final solution was conducted by relevant students at the institution, such as the Human Resource Department, the Internal and External Departments, etc.

To conclude, Dr. Lim Lai Hoon stated that “Crisis Management” is about detecting dangers to an organization and the strategies employed by that organization to cope with such threats. Preparation, response, and effective reaction are three key phases that assist businesses and organizations in handling a crisis.
In the future, hoping that with solid knowledge and many practical skills, UEFers can participate in more co-teaching classes with diverse topics with students from partner universities.
