Finance and Accounting students gain real-world experience at Grant Thornton HCMC

On the morning of April 8, the Faculty of Finance – Accounting at UEF organized a field visit to the Grant Thornton Ho Chi Minh City branch. The program enabled students to experience the professional working environment of one of Vietnam’s leading consulting and auditing firms. Through the visit, students gained practical insights into modern financial and accounting operations.

The visit to Grant Thornton motivated UEFers pursuing careers in accounting and auditing.

Leading the UEF delegation was MA. Đỗ Quang Minh, lecturer from the Faculty of Finance – Accounting. The Grant Thornton team warmly welcomed the group with Mr. Nguyễn Hoàng Tú – Assistant Manager, Business Process Solutions; Ms. Đoàn Quỳnh Trâm – Senior Associate, People & Culture; and Ms. Trương Thảo Nhi – Associate, People & Culture.

During the career-sharing session, Mr. Nguyễn Hoàng Tú recounted his journey in accounting and how he overcame early-career challenges. He emphasized that students must build a solid knowledge foundation to ensure the accuracy and credibility of financial data. Continuous learning is essential for professionals to keep pace with evolving regulations.

Students also gained in-depth understanding of the Business Process Solutions (BPS) department and its specific operations. Real-world tasks include invoice management, data entry, bookkeeping services, payroll processing, and periodic tax reporting. Preparing financial statements requires meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility.

At the end of the program, the Human Resources team introduced the recruitment process and attractive internship opportunities at Grant Thornton. Their direct answers helped students clearly understand the steps for preparing application documents and the interview skills needed to impress recruiters.

Following the sharing session, students toured various areas of the company, including workspaces, meeting rooms, and client service zones. At each location, staff enthusiastically explained the functions and operations of different departments, helping students visualize the workflow of a large professional services firm.
