Details about "UEF Students - Beautiful Stories" competition

With the goals of promoting the spirit of learning through community service, honoring the valuable lessons learned from volunteering, spreading the beautiful image of UEF students, and responding to the UEF Green Summer Volunteer Campaign 2019, the Center of Service-Learning (CSL) in collaboration with the UEF Communist Youth Union organized the contest "UEF Students – Beautiful Stories".   
 
The contest aims to allow UEF students to reflect on their experiences and identify takeaways after taking part in volunteering and community service projects that UEF has sponsored, including Service-Learning projects, the Green Summer campaign over the years, charitable programs, "The sharing winter", "The border warmth", and other volunteering and community activities.


PARTICIPANTS - FORM OF PARTICIPATION: 
Participants: UEF students 
Main content of the articles: Beautiful stories, pleasant recollections, and insightful lessons learned from volunteering and community work.
Form of participation: Students can participate by sending the article's text and one clear-faced personal photo to servicelearning@uef.edu.vn using the format: <Full Name>_NhungCauChuyenDep
Entries include essays, poems, images, and drawings. 
Scoring method: 
Online voting round: 40% of the score. 
Interview round: 60% of the score.

II. CONTENTS 
1. Online voting round: April 25 - May 10, 2019 
- After receiving the candidates' articles, the organizers post them on the CSL Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/servicelearninguef/. On the same day, only submissions with the right content will be uploaded.
- From the moment the test is uploaded on the page, entries will have a voting period of one week (7 days). (For instance, if a student's essay is uploaded on May 10, the deadline for calculating their score for this test's voting phase is May 17).
- The following interactions are used to get the "Online Voting Round" score (Note: only interactions with articles on the page are counted).

1 comment: 3 points 
- The 10 entries with the highest scores will enter the "Interview Round".


 2. Interview and awarding: May 18 - May 22, 2019
- Ten students with the highest scores in the “Online Voting Round” will receive interview invitations via email.
- Five winners are chosen by the organizers, who then announced on the UEF, CSL, and CSL fan pages.


1. Prizes: 
- 1 First Prize: 1,000,000 VND with Certificate of Merit/Certificate signed by the Principal and the opportunity to win a special prize. 
- 2 "Service" Prizes (Second Prizes): souvenirs, UEF certificates of merit, and the opportunity to win a special prize. 
- 2 "Spread" Prizes (Third Prizes): UEF certificate of merit and chance to win a special prize.   


2. Special prize: One scholarship of Karlshochschule International University (Germany) to attend the "Summer Academy on Intercultural Experience" course ( July 15 - July 26, 2019), with the following grants: 
- Round-trip airfare.
- Cost of staying. 
- Tuition fees.
The following criteria must be met in order to qualify for the special prize:
- Students whose entries are in the top 5 articles after two rounds of scoring.
- Students with interest the course "Summer Academy on Intercultural Experience."
- English proficiency: IELT score of 6.5 or above.
- Scholarships are granted based on the results of the competition should there be a large number of qualified students.


 After being sponsored, students must make the following commitments in order to participate: 
- Students agree to implement all the formalities given by the International Institute.
- During the course, students’ behavior must not adversely affect UEF's reputation. 
- Students are mostly responsible for their own safety throughout the course. Employees of UEF CSL are in charge of providing remote support for unforeseen problems.
- After taking the course, each student is required to send a report to the Department of Student Affairs, CSL, and Karlshochschule School outlining the experience and skills they have gained.
