UEFers met Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H'Hen Niê, and experienced many meaningful activities

With the aim of creating a meaningful and creative forum about the environment for students, on the morning of December 3rd, Gen Xanh cooperated with the Youth Union, the Student Union and the UEF Service - Learning Center to organize the “Students’ Environmental Day”. The program took place with many meaningful activities, in which the environmental talk show "Small action, Big impact" brought many positive and valuable messages.

Accompanying UEF students was H'Hen Niê - Miss Universe Vietnam 2017, top 5 Miss Universe 2018; Ms. Thai Minh Chau - CEO/Founder of Phuc Hung Book, Foreign Affairs Director of Fonos; Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Bich - Marketing Director of July House and especially Dang Thi Thom - 2nd year student of UEF Faculty of Public Relations and Communication, Founder of social enterprise Green Gen - owner of the implementation idea this program.

On the UEF’s side, there was the attendance of Dr. Nhan Cam Tri - Vice Rector, MSc. Nguyen Huynh Sinh - Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department and MSc. Tran Thi My Phuong - Deputy Director of Community Connection Center.

According to statistics, about 1 million plastic bottles in the world are sold every minute on average, and about 500 billion plastic bags are consumed every year. In Vietnam, on average, each household uses about 1kg of plastic bags per month. It is worth mentioning that the classification, collection, and treatment of waste in Vietnam is still very limited and that is also the reason leading to facing the harmful effects of plastic waste.
At the workshop, meaningful lessons, knowledge and stories, methods to limit the use of toxic plastic products and build oneself a healthy green lifestyle were shared by the Speakers.

Once actively participating in environmental activities, Miss H'Hen Niê shared how to recognize the importance of the environment and the lessons learned in her journey of volunteering to help the community. "For me, those are the values, the most beautiful things remain in youth. In recent years, I have always participated in calling out people for love of nature, about green lifestyle because I can see such a meaningful value of the Mother of Earth. The living environment is extremely important, and Hen thinks that actions to preserve the current environment will help future generations to continue with stronger protective actions" - Top 5 Miss Universe 2018 expressed.
 Not only inspired by her own story, H'Hen Niê is also loved for her positive spirit in community activities.

Next, Ms. Ngoc Bich also brought up the story of her own entrepreneurial journey and took the building a green lifestyle for the community as a guideline for her brand development: “We have a voice, with two hands, we hope to be the one to continue listening to your path of choice and development, always with imprints connected with the messages of environmental protection – The home of humanity .”
Dang Thi Thom again shared about the journey of Green Gen: "I have faced many difficulties in implementation such as people's consciousness and living habits. However, Green Gen has always developed sustainably because our members believe that with this journey of change, from small drops of water to big waves, the young people's impulse will help people feel the precious things that Mother of Nature is giving for us".
 

Many meaningful stories about environmental protection were shared
 
At the program, the UEF students were also excited to participate in the activity of "exchanging garbage for gifts", visiting recycled clothing stalls,...
Before the end of the festival, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri expressed his impression of the speakers' stories, above all, the nurturing and joint actions of UEF students: "I personally feel very fortunate to be able to arrange my time to join this sharing. With these stories, I am sure they have added a lot of energy for the students to become more and more conscious in cultivating our living environment."

Different meaningful activities took place during the festival
 
With the message "Small action, big impact" after the workshop, it is certain that UEF students have been inspired and raised awareness about environmental protection. The spirit of community, the spirit of "living green" and the friendliness and dynamism of the female guests also left a good impression in the hearts of UEFers.
