Learning about giving love with The Children’s Smiles

0n the afternoon of April 24, 2022, at Truyen Tin Shelter, the members of The Children’s Smiles 4 (TCS4) held a small meeting to connect with the children after a while and create opportunities for new members to get to know the children in the shelter.
To make friends with the children, the members first arranged them in circles to play the game ‘Transferring objects following the music’, wherein objects were transmitted through each person. When the music stopped at someone, that person would stand up to introduce themselves. This has created a fun atmosphere for the members and the children to get to know each other, helped the children learn how to communicate, and assisted the members in learning to understand how children’s minds work.

After the warm-up introduction, the game ‘I say’ made the children more active by having to listen and quickly earn more teammates to comply with the requirements of the game. The laughter of the children filled the room. Although some children were afraid to participate because they had just met the members, they soon familiarized themselves. The final activity of the meeting was to design the ‘Tracking the learning process’ table. The one receiving the most flowers, hearts, or stars would be the winner, who will be rewarded with a self-picked drink. And so, the excitement from the children was aroused, making them quickly listen and follow the instructions from the members enthusiastically. A small gift after each week of study review has made them more active in learning.
The members were able to show their dedication towards the children despite the limited amount of time, and the children treated them like family members in response. Their interest in the programme helped TCS be ready for the fourth phase.
