Nguyen Tan Hao with his story of a burning younger time

20/10/2023
Modern times GenZ with their own unique personalities and identities, always wanting to dedicate themselves to society, has contributed to creating great positive impacts on the community through many educational activities.

These days, the phrase "sustainable development" is of interest to many domestic and foreign businesses. Right at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF), many projects have been built with the purpose of bringing community values to students, contributing to shaping their future through the model. Service-Learning activities - learning through connecting with the community. Let's follow Nguyen Tan Hao - a 2nd year student majoring in Marketing, currently one of the most active individuals in community projects at UEF!

The Self-Developing Journey

Starting with a member recruitment email from the Center of Service-Learning (TT.KNCĐ), Tan Hao's connecting journey through 4 seasons of the For The Children’s Smile (NCET) project has brought many lessons and valuable experience for him. From the first days of participating and feeling vague and overwhelmed because everything was so new compared to high school, until when Hao realized that he had grown a lot with each activity of the project, everything is summarized by one word "Mature".

Tan Hao’s story sums up in one word - “Mature”

During his personal development journey, Hao always participates in community activities with the mindset of learning. It can be said that teammates on the same project or the previous generation, and most importantly, Hao himself are the "teachers" who have contributed to helping him accumulate multi-area knowledge: team-working skill,  management skill, life skills,...

Referring to the most memorable memory during his activities, Tan Hao shared: "As a member of the teachers team for children in shelters, due to two years before, the COVID-19 epidemic is still raging so we only teach online! And I still vividly remember the feeling of going directly to the shelter to teach the children for the first time. The warm welcome from the children made me extremely emotional because I did not think the For The Children's Smile project would be so well received! In teaching, when a teacher receives such love and warm welcome, for me it is a huge success! And that is also one of the sources of motivation for me to continue my teaching journey!”

“You only live once and youth only passes once!”

That is Tan Hao's opinion when asked about participating in activities at UEF. Not only is he a member of the teaching team of the NCET project, Hao is also an enthusiastic face in the activities of the Youth Union - Marketing Faculty Association. Besides, trying out trending competitions also attracted Hao's interest. Participating in many activities means less time for yourself and more work, and people around you still wonder where Hao's enthusiasm for activities comes from, but Tan Hao believes: "If I like it, I'll just do it! I don't regret what I've done, I only regret what I haven't done yet!”

His image is of an energetic and extroverted student, but there is still the image of a gentle and confidant Tan Hao, shown through the artistic activities he participates in. Among them, Hao has a great love for ballad music and sees it as a genre that represents his personality.

Epilogue
Up to now, the For The Children’s Smile project in particular and the Center of Service-Learning in general have made greater progress than many years ago. The values of learning and community engagement that the activities here bring have helped students improve themselves as well as find their own future direction. That's why, Tan Hao hopes that he will always be able to stand side by side with the Center of Service-Learning, along with the two big sisters of the Center (Ms. My Phuong - Deputy Director of the Center of Service-Learning and Ms. Kim Phung - Center Coordinator. KNCĐ), and especially the friends in the NCET project so that we can together spread positive meanings and spirit to the community.
