Some people say walking on the path of creative freelancer is a new, dynamic but extremely challenging step. At the UEF Service-Learning Center (UEF SLC), there is a young GenZ-er confidently embarking on this journey with positive contributions to community projects. This young man is Pham Nguyen Duc Nghia - a 2nd-year student majoring in Marketing - at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF), a member of the Event team of the C4D (Communication For Development) project - a guy who is always innovative and freely creative in community events.

Strong, personable, and fond of experiencing new things are attributes of Duc Nghia

The fate is called "Immortal Tea"
Back in the summer of June 15, 2022, when the UEF Service-Learning Center (UEF SLC) carried out a fundraising campaign called: "Immortal Tea - Kombucha", it was also the first time Nghia learned about community connection activities and he had countless questions like: What is Service-Learning Center? What is the purpose of the activity? This opportunity prompted him to learn about the UEF SLC where people come together to create good values for the community.

Nghia calmly shared: “I learned about the UEF SLC thanks to a friend. She contacted me and asked me to participate in supporting the fundraising campaign "Immortal Tea - Kombucha". After doing some research, I realized that I was quite compatible with the development goals of a project group at the Center, C4D (Communication For Development), so I boldly asked to continue accompanying as a member of the Event team.”

When conflict comes with experience
After more than a year of accompanying the Center, Duc Nghia was confident enough to take on the position of co-leader of the Event team with "comrade" Bui Ngoc Nhu Ha. Referring to this friend, Nghia shared an unforgettable memory at the Light Up Your Soul - community festival event: "At that time, Nhu Ha and I performed the task of making a lighthouse model, but because of the pressure of coming up with an idea and because we did not understand the structure of the tower frame clearly, we had conflicts during the working process. Luckily, both of us then understood and listened, so the mission was completed and the result exceeded expectations when the lighthouse became the focus of the whole event. From there, I learned to control my emotions and respect my teammates' opinions."

Duc Nghia is also fondly called "Media Ambassador" because of the love and pride that this young person does not hesitate to show when talking about his project and the UEF SLC. With a positive spirit and goodwill, and a warm and friendly personality when interacting and connecting, Nghia's journey with the UEF SLC always has the support of many people.

Nghia's journey at the Center is always accompanied by members

“I am lucky and grateful because the UEF SLC always brings a feeling of comfort and freedom for me to make my ideas come true. The UEF SLC creates conditions for me to develop my strengths, and at the same time creates opportunities for me to recognize what is not good and needs to improve.” - Nghia's sincere thoughts when reflecting on his journey from the early days. It can be said that Duc Nghia became more mature thanks to the UEF SLC, and thanks to Nghia it has also matured. Thanks to the events that Nghia conceptualized and organized, thanks to the positive stories that Nghia spread, and thanks to Nghia's sharing in this article, the Center's model and community activities can reach more people.
