The Graduate Education Institute aims to become a specialised unit in advanced education, providing in-depth knowledge, fostering cutting-edge research, and developing high-quality human resources to meet the demands of the integration era and digital transformation.

The Graduate Education Institute is committed to delivering high-quality master’s and doctoral programmes that integrate theory, practice, and scientific research; developing a cohort of experts, managers, and researchers with strong professional competence, critical thinking, and ethical integrity; and contributing to the sustainable development of enterprises, society, and the knowledge-based economy.

Establishment and Development:
- The Graduate Education Institute is part of the academic system of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance. It was established in 2014 under the name Department of Science Management – Postgraduate Studies – Quality Assurance in accordance with Decision No. 08/QĐ-HĐQT dated September 15, 2014, signed and issued by the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
- In 2016, the Board of Directors issued a decision to rename the Department of Science Management – Postgraduate Studies – Quality Assurance as the Department of Science Management – Postgraduate Studies, separating the Quality Assurance division into an independent unit under Decision No. 18/QĐ-HĐQT dated May 30, 2016.
- In 2019, the Board of Directors issued Decision No. 20/QĐ-HĐQT dated September 31, 2019 to rename the Department of Science Management – Postgraduate Studies as the Department of Graduate Education under. In the same year, the Department of Science, Technology and International Projects was established under Decision No. 19/QĐ-HĐQT dated August 31, 2019.
- In the academic year 2020–2021, following the merger of the Department of Graduate Education and the Department of Science, Technology and International Projects, the unit was officially renamed the Graduate Education Institute and Science and Technology under Decision No. 32/QĐ-HĐT dated December 31, 2020.
- On August 31, 2023, the Board of Directors separated the Science and Technology division and renamed the Graduate Education Institute and Science and Technology to the Graduate Education Institute under Decision No. 12/QĐ-HĐT dated August 31, 2023.
- The establishment of the Graduate Education Institute aims to implement the University’s orientation of strengthening and improving the quality of postgraduate education, promptly respond to the demands of society and the dynamic economy, and contributing to the sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance.
Functions and Responsibilities:
Functions
- The Graduate Education Institute is a unit under the Board of Presidents, responsible for advising and assisting the Board of Presidents in developing postgraduate programs, organizing admissions, and managing the master’s and doctoral programs.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Advising on the strategic orientation and development scale of postgraduate programs.
- Proposing annual enrollment quotas and developing admission plans; implementing enrollment targets; issuing admission announcements; receiving application dossiers; organizing entrance examinations; and managing admissions data.
- Developing curricula and training plans for master’s and doctoral programs.
- Organizing and supervising teaching, learning, and research activities at the master’s and doctoral levels in compliance with regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and those of the University.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating with the Department of Testing Services in organizing examinations to ensure accurate and objective assessment of learners’ competencies; organizing grading process and archiving examination papers and results of postgraduate students and doctoral candidates in accordance with regulations.
- Proposing the establishment of master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation evaluation committees at both institutional and university levels in accordance with regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the University.
- Monitoring, supervising, analyzing, and evaluating training outcomes; advising and proposing appropriate quality improvement solutions.
- Implementing the conferral of master’s and doctoral degrees in accordance with regulations.
- Managing postgraduate students and doctoral candidates, including maintaining academic records in compliance with current regulations; issuing student ID cards, confirmation letters, and academic transcripts within assigned authority.
- Receiving and processing applications, dossiers, and documents related to postgraduate education activities.
- Coordinating with relevant Faculties and units in developing new postgraduate programs.
- Coordinating with the Department of Quality Assurance to conduct stakeholder surveys in accordance with University regulations.
- Organizing and implementing risk management activities within the unit in accordance with University regulations.
- Preparing periodic and ad-hoc reports as required by the Board of Directors and the Board of Presidents.
- Implementing quality assurance, accreditation, and institutional and program self-assessment activities in accordance with the University’s plans.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors and the Board of Presidents.
Achievements:
Quality Accreditation Activities:
- Effectively coordinated with relevant units in providing supporting evidence and took responsibility for several criteria and standards in institutional accreditation and program quality assessment; actively contributed to the University’s higher education institutional accreditation activities in 2023.
- Successfully completed the accreditation of the Master’s Program in Business Administration with 92% of criteria meeting the required standards.
- Completed the quality assessment and accreditation of three master’s programs in Finance and Banking, Accounting, and Economic Law in 2024.
