UEF welcomes the Western Australian Delegation, expanding global cooperation opportunities

SEPTEMBER 22, the UEF International Institute held a meeting to welcome and work with the Western Australian Government and Education Delegation this afternoon, aiming to strengthen the Vietnam-Australia partnership and expand UEF’s network with Western Australian authorities and higher education institutions.

The working session with the Western Australian Government and Education delegation
expanded cooperation opportunities across various fields

The Western Australian delegation included Hon. Samantha Rowe MLC, Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier, Minister for Defence Industries, Tourism, Trade and Investment; Ms. Simone Spencer, Deputy Director General, Strategy, Performance and International Engagement, Western Australian Department of Energy and Economic Development; Ms. Võ Thanh Thủy, Education Development Manager, Invest and Trade Western Australia in Vietnam, Western Australian Department of Energy and Economic Development; and representatives from other educational institutions and organizations from Western Australia.

Representing universities from Western Australia were Ms. Kimberly Tritton, Director of Global Future Students, Curtin University; Mr. Marko Remes, Dean of International Business Operations, Edith Cowan University; Prof. Don Klinger, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), Murdoch University; Mr. Christopher Riley, Pro Vice Chancellor, Recruitment & Marketing, the University of Notre Dame Australia; and Ms. Vũ Minh Huyền, Global Engagement Manager, the University of Western Australia. In addition, the working session also welcomed representatives of Stanley College and StudyPerth. On behalf of UEF, attendees included Dr. Đỗ Hữu Nguyên Lộc, Vice President; Dr. Ngô Minh Hải, Vice President; Dr. Hồ Viễn Phương, Vice President; Prof. Dr. Eric Jose Olmedo Panal, Director of the UEF International Institute; and heads of the University’s units.

Representatives of UEF and the delegation expressed expectations for acting on
cooperation opportunities in education

During the working session, representatives gave an overview of higher education capability, training strengths, and development orientation of Western Australian educational institutions. From similarities to collaboration potential, the delegates discussed opportunities for cooperation between UEF and Western Australia universities in the next phase.

The meeting focused on cross-border education, collaboration in academic and scientific research, academic exchange, and expanding student exchange as well as other international exchange programs. These discussions opened up opportunities for UEF to connect with the Western Australian higher education network, contributing to diversifying learning and research programs as well as international engagement experience for lecturers and students.

Following the working session at UEF, on that evening, representatives of the University’s executive board attended the Western Australia Evening Reception held by Invest and Trade Western Australia at the Park Hyatt Saigon hotel. At the reception, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Xuân Lâm, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors; Dr. TS. Đỗ Hữu Nguyên Lộc, Vice President; and the executive board exchanged greetings with Hon. Roger Cook, Premier of Western Australia. On this occasion, UEF representatives introduced the University’s educational models, internationalization orientation, and eagerness to strengthen partnerships with Australian educational institutes. The meeting continued the discussion that morning, contributing to increasing opportunities for cooperation between UEF and Western Australian authorities as well as universities.

The two activities on the same day opened up opportunities for UEF to connect the Western Australian government and educational institutions. From the initial discussion, UEF looks forward to working with compatible partners to develop practical joint programs with the aim of bringing students more learning and international engagement opportunities.
