The Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City (UEF) was established in 2007 with the mission of providing English language training for students across various majors. After seven years of continuous efforts and notable achievements, the Department was officially upgraded to the Faculty of Foreign Languages under Decision No. 14/QĐ-HĐQT signed on September 15, 2014. Since then, the Faculty was assigned higher responsibilities and functions: not only offering general-English courses to students of different academic programs, but also delivering undergraduate and associate degree programs in Applied English Language Studies. In the academic year 2017–2018, the Faculty was renamed the Faculty of Foreign Languages and International Cultures to reflect the diversity and international integration in its academic programs. On March 20, 2019, the Faculty was officially renamed the Faculty of English to align more closely with its academic activities, vision, mission, and the diversity of training fields defined by the University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City.

Academic Objectives

The Faculty of English was established with the main goal of having students provided with professional knowledge, skills, political qualifications, ethics, and a high level of physical fitness, enabling them to work effectively in international business environments or in other professional fields that require high-level English language proficiency.

Academic Programs

The Faculty of English is in charge of delivering three English language academic programs: (1) Bachelor’s degree in English Language, (2) General English for non-English majors, (3) Continued education program in English Language.

Educational Quality Assurance

Over the course of its academic activities, the Faculty of English persistently reviews, improves, and upgrades the English Language program. The Faculty considers educational quality assurance as one of its top priorities to better support students by providing the state-of-the-art knowledge and practical professional skills that meet labor market expectations. In the academic year 2020–2021, the Faculty fulfilled its internal quality assurance and external assessment for the English Language program. On February 26, 2021, the Faculty of English was honored to receive the Certificate of Accreditation for the undergraduate English Language program meeting the educational quality standards issued by the Minister of Education and Training from the Center for Education Accreditation at Vinh University. Following this, in June 2025, the BA in English Language Program was officially accredited by FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation).

Faculty Members

The permanent and temporary lecturers of the Faculty, graduated with good to excellent academic standing from reputable universities both domestically and internationally, hold postgraduate degrees (Master’s or higher) in English Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics, or English Literature. Furthermore, the Faculty’s part-time foreign lecturers with their own extensive teaching experience and strong enthusiasm, which is regarded as a distinctive feature of the English training programs at the Faculty of English.
