01/16/2026

On the morning of January 16, the Faculty of English organized the seminar “From the Classroom to the Community,” marking a significant milestone for students in applying their professional knowledge to real-life situations and connecting learning with community service activities.

This program also served as a conclusion for the course on Theory and Methods of Teaching 2 and the Translation course, where students learn not only to gain knowledge but also to share and create value for society.

The event was attended by Associate Professor Dr. Pham Huy Cuong, Head of the English Department; Ms. Tran Thi My Phuong, Director of the Community Connection Center; Associate Professor Dr. Duong My Tham, Deputy Head of the Faculty; Ms. Hoang Thi Ngoc Hien, Faculty Assistant; along with faculty members and a large number of students from the English Department. Ms. Chu Nguyen Hoa Anh Dao, Manager of the Communication Shelter, also participated as a partner.

In the opening of the seminar, guests, instructors, and students reflected on their journey of learning and community service through emotional summary images and videos. From developing lesson plans and preparing lectures to conducting teaching practices at the Communication Shelter, each step marked students’ growth. This retrospective allowed them to recognize their personal development, from initial apprehension to the ability to interact and adapt flexibly with children in real environments.

Commenting on the program's effectiveness, Ms. Chu Nguyen Hoa Anh Dao noted the positive and professional engagement from UEF students and highlighted the remarkable progress made by the children at the Shelter after being guided. She expressed her hope that this community-oriented learning model would be maintained and expanded to provide more learning opportunities for underprivileged children and build a sustainable connection between the school and society.

From an educational perspective, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Huy Cuong, Ms. Hoang Thi Ngoc Hien, and other faculty members praised the integration of community service learning into the curriculum. Real-life experiences not only enhance students' professional skills but also foster adaptability and creativity in teaching and communication, thereby nurturing confidence and professional resilience for the future.

Emphasizing the humanitarian aspect of the program, Ms. Tran Thi My Phuong shared that engaging in and implementing community projects helps students refine their professional skills while nurturing compassion. This is the core value that education strives for. She also commended the students' responsibility and perseverance, noting that despite facing various challenges, they made consistent efforts to complete the project.

The seminar “From the Classroom to the Community” not only concluded a course but also opened up profound reflections on the role of knowledge in life. Through this experience, students from the English Department gained a stronger sense of social responsibility, ready to spread positive values to the community with their knowledge and passion.
