Continuing the series of inspiring academic dialogues, the Tea & Talk session #8, themed “Create Uniqueness,” organized by the Faculty of English on the afternoon of June 5, offered students an engaging, open, and energetic experience. Centered on the idea of embracing individuality, the session highlighted the importance of staying true to oneself and confidently expressing one’s identity both in university and in society.
The event was guided and facilitated by two lecturers from the Faculty of English – M.A. Tran Thi Dung and M.A. Nguyen Duy Khoi.
Tran Thi Dung and Nguyen Duy Khoi accompanied students throughout Tea & Talk #8.
Two UEF students, Tran Kiet and Anh Thu, took the stage as main speakers, sharing heartfelt and relatable stories about their journeys of self-discovery and overcoming psychological barriers to no longer fear being labeled as “weird” or “different.” Their stories resonated deeply with the audience, especially with students who are still finding balance between fitting in and staying authentic.
The students shared sincere and relatable stories about their journey of self-discovery and overcoming the fear of being different.
A highlight of the event was an interactive English reflex practice, where students took turns answering personal yet thought-provoking questions such as: “Have you ever felt strange or different?”, “How can you turn your ‘weirdness’ into an opportunity?”, and “Is there someone around you who’s a bit strange but endearingly so?” This activity went beyond simple language practice. It encouraged students to reflect, express their unique perspectives, and engage in genuine self-expression.
Interactive activities helped students enhance both their English skills and critical thinking.
Tea & Talk is more than just an English-speaking space. It serves as a platform for students to be themselves, celebrate individuality, and learn to listen to one another. With that spirit, the event continues to nurture a community of confident, courageous, and creative young people who grow stronger each day.
