UEFERS VISIT, LEARNING AT THE PEOPLE’S COURT OF GO VAP DISTRICT WITH INTERNATIONAL LAWYER

"One Day Experiencing The Legal Profession” is a program of practical visits and experiences at legal units organized by the UEF Faculty of Law. In this year, this program was officially relaunched on the morning of 26/12 with the destination being the People’s Court of Go Vap District.

 

UEFers had a meaningful experience at the People’s Court of Go Vap District

 

Accompanying students is the participation of LLM. Vu Anh Sao - Vice Dean of Faculty of Law, LLM. Nguyen Nam Trung - Dean Assistant of Faculty of Law. Moreover, together with them on this field trip is Professor - Lawyer Robert E. Shapiro.

The American Professor accompanied UEFers visiting the place of execution in HCM city.

 

The representation of Go Vap District’s People’s Court, Mr. Tran Dang Tan - the Tribunal President had welcomed and shared about the court’s activities, especially understanding the Judge’s role at trials.

The conversation covers: The Court’s trial activity; Trial procedures in specific cases, including civil and criminal law; the model of the courtroom; Judges, Court clerk’s uniform; Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experiences; Visit departments in the Court, Mediation and dialogue center.

About the Court's activities, students were helped to differentiate between a variety of courts such as the Supreme People’s Court, High People’s Court. Other positions like Court clerk were also specially mentioned by Tribunal President Tran Dang Tan. To give the student a clearer view, Mr. Tan mentioned some of the practical circumstances relating to actual cases.

About the entrance exam to enter the court, you have to achieve a vocational certificate. The process of becoming a Judge has to go through numerous stages: become a court clerk, judicial profession class, select sub-district Judge, prepare Judge appointment files.

From those informations, UEF’s students had asked Tribunal President Dang Tan many factual questions such as information security during the trial, practice in court, trial for sensitive cases, suing procedures,...

Students actively asked questions relating to legal profession

 

Students had also visited the courtroom of 3 types of court including: domestic and minors, civil, criminal. Mr. Tan had helped students differentiate seating positions in court such as the defense attorney, the advocate for the rights and legal interests of both parties, the defendant, the injured party,... and also differentiate the difference between the trials. Students had also practically experienced - trying on the Judge’s uniform and sitting on the special chair at Court.

Professor and students tried on the Judge’s uniform and sat in special seats at Court.

 

By means of this field trip in the legal field with an international lawyer, the students have knowledge about many positions in Court, especially about the role of the Judge. This factual knowledge will be helpful in the future and give students a clearer orientation. The trip also brings more energy so that UEFers can comprehend knowledge from Professor - Lawyer Robert E. Shapiro in the following days.
