Among the inspiring stories of UEF students’ growth journeys, Chiêm Hoàng Mai Vy – an alumna of the Finance and Banking major, Class of 2021 , has recently added a remarkable milestone by being commended by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam National Union of Students at the 2025 Valedictorian Honoring Program. Mai Vy graduated as the top student of her major with a cumulative GPA of 3.8/4.0, alongside an impressive track record spanning academic excellence and student activities.

Starting from a very “finance-minded” curiosity—Why can cash flow operate? What lies behind the numbers?—Mai Vy chose Finance and Banking as her way to “decode” the world through the language of data and markets. Rather than studying theory in a one-dimensional manner, she proactively built her own learning strategy: breaking knowledge down into smaller parts, revisiting mistakes until she fully understood them, and applying concepts to real-life contexts—such as analyzing the financial statements of actual companies. That persistence gradually became her competitive edge in both academic and practical environments.

Achieving a TOEIC score of 980/990 in her final university years, Mai Vy quickly regarded foreign language proficiency as a “passport” to broader academic arenas. With a strong English foundation, she confidently competed in the 2024 “English Public Speaking in Accounting–Finance” contest and won First Prize with a compelling, sharp presentation marked by a distinctive personal style.
Beyond that, Mai Vy represented UEF at The 10th International Students Start-up Conference at Tongmyong University, South Korea. There, she actively discussed, connected, and debated with students from multiple countries. Each session became an opportunity for her to sharpen critical thinking, broaden a global perspective, and affirm the capability of UEF students in an international academic environment.

Alongside her strong academic profile, Mai Vy has also been a familiar face in UEF’s student movements. As the former Secretary of the Faculty Youth Union (Faculty of Finance and Accounting), she cultivated discipline and mastered effective time management across learning, research, and community contribution. Her thorough preparation, flexible coordination skills, and strong sense of responsibility enabled her to become a reliable pillar for the collective—clearly demonstrating leadership shaped by experience.
Looking back on her university years, she considers UEF the place where knowledge is closely connected to practical experience. An open academic environment, diverse international activities, workshops, and major-focused competitions created opportunities for her to strengthen English, research skills, professional thinking, and leadership capacity. This blend of solid knowledge, self-directed learning, and community engagement shaped a resilient, humble, and disciplined 2025 Valedictorian—representing the dynamic and globally integrated image of UEF students.

A proud moment: Mai Vy is honored as the valedictorian of her major at the graduation ceremony
Being recognized at the Ho Chi Minh City Valedictorian Honoring Program marks a milestone that acknowledges Mai Vy’s persistent efforts. Above all, her story inspires a generation of young students who create opportunities for themselves, persevere toward their goals, and proactively reach beyond borders.
From small lessons in the classroom to major experiences in life, Mai Vy has proven that success is not a lucky gift—it is the result of perseverance, a learning mindset, and a humble, growth-oriented attitude. These are also the values that UEF aims to cultivate in its mission to develop high-quality human resources for society.
