Uef students achieve further success on the international stage
The competition was organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China and the 2025 Vietnam-China Cultural Exchange Year. With the theme “Exploring Chinese Culture through Language, Tourism, Education, Cuisine, and Arts,” this year’s contest brought together 29 talented contestants from 15 universities in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces.
Representing UEF, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan – Vice Head of the Faculty of International Language and Culture – along with faculty members and students, accompanied and cheered for the UEF contestants, Nguyen Pham Minh Thu and Nguyen Phuong Anh, providing encouragement and support throughout the competition.

The contestants went through three challenging and exciting rounds. Round 1 was a multiple-choice test on general knowledge of Chinese language and culture, requiring extensive understanding. Round 2 was a presentation on a given topic with direct questions from the judges, where contestants demonstrated their public speaking and critical thinking skills. Finally, Round 3 was a talent showcase related to Chinese culture, including music, dance, calligraphy, painting, and more, demanding creativity and performance skills.
In Round 2, Nguyen Pham Minh Thu, a third-year student majoring in Chinese Language, presented the topic “Language Bridge: The Power of Chinese as a Cultural Connector.” Minh Thu emphasized that Chinese is not only a tool for communication but also a symbol of Chinese civilization, contributing to deep cultural connections in the context of globalization. Her persuasive speech, demonstrating a profound understanding of the role of language in promoting culture and fostering mutual understanding between nations, was a key factor in helping Minh Thu win the Encouragement Award of the competition.
Nguyen Phuong Anh also delivered a thoughtful presentation on the topic “Art Bridge: Exploring the ‘Global Family’ through Chinese Literature and Arts.” Both UEF students continued to impress in Round 3 with outstanding talent performances. Phuong Anh excelled in the calligraphy competition with skillful strokes, while Minh Thu earned high marks with a graceful dance performance, rich in cultural identity.![]()

The contest provided an opportunity for contestants to demonstrate their language skills and cultural knowledge, while also engaging in exchange and learning, contributing to the improvement of Chinese language education at educational institutions. UEF is proud of its students’ achievements and believes that these valuable experiences will serve as a solid foundation, helping them continue to achieve greater success in their studies and future careers.
