In the inter-Faculty-Institute scientific conference, 19 research topics were conducted and reports were submitted, among which 4 topics were selected to be presented at the conference, including: (1) "Improving self-study capacity for UEF students majoring in Linguistics Japanese", (2) "Survey on mistakes made by UEF’s Chinese language students when using verbs", (3) "Solutions to help students get interested in accessing Japanese-Vietnamese interpretation from common knowledge (basic word aid)", (4) "Language practice from the audio-visual method for students majored in Japanese language".

Solutions to help improve self-study ability of language majored students

MA. Truong Ngoc Quynh who conducted topic 2 has analyzed students’ common mistakes when using synonyms and confusing verbs in Chinese. From this situation, she proposed specific solutions for lecturers and students. Accordingly, for teachers, it is necessary to build a learning environment using foreign languages, paying attention when comparing the foreign languages with their mother tongue. For students, they need to be aware of the existence of the problem, consciously fostering foreign language thinking.

Topic 3 presented by Ms. Le Nguyen Minh Thanh from Hutech University - Viet Nhat Institute of Technology has also highlighted the solution to help students learn Japanese-Vietnamese translation and interpretation, thereby pointing out the important role of self-study in accessing new and difficult knowledge.

Suggestions on audio-visual methods when learning languages

In topic 4, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha - Teacher of Marie Curie High School has mentioned the audio-visual method when students learn Japanese. She analyzes the process, limitations, and advantages of this method. From that she has made suggestions on practicing Japanese language by the audio-visual method in teaching and learning.

It can be said that for students majoring in languages, self-study is an important factor. Language is a specific knowledge that needs to be analyzed and memorized. If students do not actively self-study, it will be difficult to grasp and master the language they are learning.
The inter-faculty-institute scientific conference has come up with many feasible solutions. This is a premise for teachers to apply in teaching, promoting students to form a sense of self-study and achieve good results from this self-learning process.
