On the morning of April 3, the UEF Center of Service-Learning (CSL) organized the workshop “The Power of Compassion in Leadership and Life,” offering profound perspectives on one of the most important qualities of human beings.
The speakers shared their personal journeys, giving UEFers a deeper understanding of compassion and its positive impact on people's lives. The workshop also introduced practical ways for students to nurture and strengthen their compassion through even the smallest actions in their daily lives.

The engaging workshop topic attracted the attention of a large number of students.
The program featured three dedicated speakers: Ms. Ngo Thi Thuy, Regional Strategic Advisor and former Country Director of Rise Alliance for Children Vietnam; Mr. Le Hoang Phong, Founder and CEO of YOUREORG; and Ms. Nguyen Vo Truc Giang, Coordinator, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Get and Give.
Drawing from their practical experiences and inspiring personal stories, the speakers helped participants understand that compassion is not merely a moral value but also a foundation for sustainable leadership.

Ms. Tran Thi My Phuong, LL.M, Director of CSL, presented letters of appreciation to the guests.
In his talk, Mr. Le Hoang Phong brought an emotional story from his own life - a journey from an orphanage to entering university. For him, compassion is not a distant concept but something that has been present throughout every step of his journey. The kindness and support he received from strangers completely changed his life, giving him opportunities to pursue education, develop himself, and now spread positive values to the community.
From a leadership perspective, compassion is more than empathy; it is an art. Ms. Ngo Thi Thuy emphasized that practicing compassion can sometimes begin with the smallest gestures: offering encouragement at the right moment, showing an understanding look, or simply being willing to listen. A compassionate leader can inspire their team and create a positive working environment where everyone feels respected and motivated to contribute.

The speakers shared stories based on their own experiences and observations.
In an era where technology and data increasingly influence decision-making, compassion is what keeps people connected. A leader needs both professional competence and the ability to understand and support those around them. Leading with compassion not only helps build stronger teams but also plants the seeds for positive change within organizations and society.

In addition to listening to the speakers, students also had the opportunity to share their own stories.
The workshop left students with meaningful reflections, helping them realize that compassion is not only a beautiful quality but also a powerful force capable of changing lives and guiding sustainable development. More importantly, everyone has the ability to practice compassion, not through grand gestures, but through the simplest of everyday actions.
