UEF Launches "My Job – My Future" To Help Students Explore Careers

Amid the rapid transformation of the labor market and the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI), choosing a university major today requires more than personal interest. It also demands a clear understanding of career pathways and future industry trends.

To support high school students in building a solid foundation for career planning from an early stage, UEF launched the first session of its "My Job – My Future" career orientation series on the morning of July 17 at Le Quy Don High School (Tan Mai Ward, Dong Nai City), attracting nearly 250 students.

Students enthusiastically took on the role of "job applicants" during a simulated recruitment activity organized around a large-scale event scenario.

The program was designed to help students explore different professions through practical, real-world scenarios. Instead of introducing majors through conventional presentations, the program illustrated the roles each profession plays within an organization, the knowledge and skills required, and the corresponding career prospects. This approach enabled students to connect their personal interests with labor market demands before making decisions about their future fields of study.

Vice Principal Nguyen Thi Thu Quyen of Le Quy Don High School emphasized the practical value the program brings to students at an early stage of their career planning.

A highlight of the event was its creative delivery. Representatives from various UEF faculties developed their presentations around a fictional scenario inspired by the popular Vietnamese television program "Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai." In the scenario, a large-scale concert production team was recruiting personnel to organize and operate the event. Each academic discipline introduced the corresponding career positions, professional expertise, required competencies, job responsibilities, and expected income levels. This innovative approach provided students with a more comprehensive understanding of each profession beyond theoretical descriptions.

UEF lecturers brought career exploration to life by taking on the roles of team leaders responsible for different departments involved in producing the concert.

During the program, students explored a wide range of academic disciplines, including Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Commercial Business, Marketing, Event Management, Digital Marketing, International Business, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Real Estate, International Economics, Digital Economics, Accounting, Auditing, Finance and Banking, International Finance, Financial Technology (FinTech), Hotel Management, Restaurant and Food Service Management, Tourism and Travel Management, and E-commerce.

In addition to introducing academic programs, lecturers analyzed current and future labor market trends, discussed occupations with high workforce demand, examined the impact of AI on the workplace, and highlighted the competencies students should develop to remain competitive in the future.

From professional knowledge and problem-solving skills to creativity, technological competence, and AI literacy, every topic was integrated into relatable career stories, helping students understand that choosing the right major is only one part of the journey—the key is developing the right competencies.

Using real-world scenarios to introduce career paths helped students better visualize their future professional opportunities.

To create a more interactive learning experience, the program was conducted simultaneously in six thematic classrooms, covering the fields of Business Administration, Economics, Finance and Accounting, Information Technology, Services, and Marketing. Alongside the presentations, students participated in group discussions, case-solving activities, presentations, and idea-sharing sessions. This learning model encouraged active participation, critical thinking, and practical application of knowledge to authentic workplace situations.

The innovative and engaging program format attracted enthusiastic participation from students.

As the opening event of the "My Job – My Future" series, the program reaffirmed UEF's commitment to supporting high school students in making informed career decisions. By connecting academic knowledge with real-world practice, the initiative equips students with the confidence and insights needed to choose majors that align with their abilities, passions, and the evolving demands of the future workforce.
