UEF students explore the legal framework and technology trends in Vietnam’s securities market

As Vietnam’s securities market continues to expand and integrate deeply with regional economies, mastering the legal framework, understanding market mechanisms, and keeping abreast of financial-technology trends are essential for students to shape their professional mindset.
To offer students a more comprehensive and practical perspective, on the morning of 21 October, the Faculty of Finance – Accounting coordinated with the State Securities Commission of Vietnam, Yuanta Vietnam Securities Company Limited, and New World Group Asset Management Joint Stock Company to organize the seminar “Legal Framework and Fundamental Content of Vietnam’s Securities Market”.

Attending the program from the Faculty of Finance – Accounting was M.A. Nguyễn Nam Trung - Assistant to the Dean and Head of FinTech. Guest speakers included Ms. Đỗ Thị Phương Lan representative of the Office of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam; Mr. Trần Quang Vũ - Specialist at the State Securities Commission of Vietnam; Mr. Nguyễn Thế Minh - Director of Research and Product Development, Yuanta Vietnam Securities Company; and Mr. Đàm Thanh Hiệp - Chairman of the Board of Directors, New World Group Asset Management Joint Stock Company.

Opening the technical program, Mr. Trần Quang Vũ delivered a presentation on “The Legal Framework and Operations of Vietnam’s Securities Market”. He introduced the supervisory structure, the roles of financial intermediaries, investors’ rights and obligations, and prohibited practices in securities investment.

Through his sharing, UEF students gained deeper insight into the legal foundations, and better understood the role of law in building a transparent, secure, and sustainably developing market.

Continuing the program, Mr. Nguyễn Thế Minh offered multiple perspectives on “FinTech and AI in Securities.” From financial-technology application platforms such as YSradar, SSI Digital Advisor, TCInvest, and Finhay Bot to data analytics using artificial intelligence, he outlined a panoramic view of the strong transformation underway in Vietnam’s securities industry in the digital era.

With the message “Future-proof yourself,” the speaker encouraged students to start by building small applications that solve personal problems with technology, thereby developing innovative capacity and a creative mindset to enter the era of smart investing.

Concluding the program, Mr. Đàm Thanh Hiệp conveyed practical information and real-world perspectives on “AI and Digital Assets.” With the thought-provoking question, “AI may replace many positions, but can it replace your financial thinking?”, he led students to reflect deeply on human value in the age of technology.

Mr. Hiệp emphasized that artificial intelligence is opening many opportunities for finance; at the same time, the profession demands critical thinking, deep market understanding, and strategic decision-making—capabilities no algorithm can replace.

He also highlighted the role of enterprises in pioneering technological adoption and serving as a bridge between students and professional practice, contributing to the training of finance-technology human resources with competence and global readiness.

The seminar concluded with valuable knowledge and fresh learning inspiration. Through topics spanning the legal framework, FinTech and AI, and digital assets, UEF students not only expanded their knowledge but also developed a clearer view of their future career pathways.
