UEF gains CFA Institute Partner Recognition: Major milestone in curriculum internationalization

In the context of global standardization in financial talent development, collaboration with international professional organizations plays a vital role in helping universities enhance their curricula and keep pace with evolving market expectations.

With that commitment, on the afternoon of 24/11, UEF officially received partner recognition from the CFA Institute (USA) for its Finance–Banking program, marking a new step forward in strengthening educational quality and expanding the University’s international partnership network.

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Nhan Cam Tri – Vice President of the University; Dr. Ha Thi Thuy – Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, M.A. – Vice Dean; along with program heads, faculty members, and UEF students. Representing the CFA Institute were Mr. Richard McGillivray – Senior Director, Product Advocacy and Education APAC, and Ms. Florence Wong – Director, Partnerships and Client Solutions APAC. The event also welcomed and acknowledged partners from Smart Train Academy.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri emphasized the strategic significance of the partnership between UEF and the CFA Institute—one of the most influential professional organizations in global finance and investment. Being recognized as a partner affirms that UEF’s training capacity is increasingly aligned with international standards, enabling students to approach professional benchmarks widely recognized by leading financial institutions worldwide.

On behalf of the CFA Institute, Ms. Florence Wong shared long-term collaboration directions, including stronger integration of CFA-aligned standardized content, academic support and professional resources, and expanded opportunities for students to pursue CFA examinations and certifications. She highlighted the CFA Institute’s commitment to developing professional talent with transparency, strong ethics, and global readiness.

The certificate presentation took place in a formal and dignified atmosphere. This meaningful moment demonstrated that UEF’s Finance–Banking program meets the CFA Institute’s rigorous criteria, opening up stronger competitive advantages for students on their professional journey.

Following the recognition ceremony, the Faculty of Finance and Accounting hosted a specialized seminar titled “Digital Transformation in Financial Investment: From Global Standards to Future Skills”, featuring presentations by Mr. Richard McGillivray and Mr. Vo Minh Duong – Deputy Director, Finance Segment, Smart Train Academy.

In his presentation, Mr. Richard McGillivray provided a structured overview of current international standards in finance education. He shared updates on CFA exam content and assessment methods, as well as the evolving competency trends in today’s financial sector. He also affirmed that earning the CFA charter brings long-term advantages—from broader career opportunities to higher credibility within the professional community.

Mr. Vo Minh Duong continued with analysis of today’s finance labor market: multi-skill requirements, rapid industry changes, key recruitment criteria, the value of strong fundamentals, a growth mindset, and professional networks. From his perspective, the CFA credential is a “gold standard” that significantly enhances students’ competitiveness as the finance industry accelerates toward digital transformation.
