UEF Leader Appointed Distinguished Professor by Open University Malaysia

On May 11, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam, Vice Chairman of the Board of Presidents at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF), was officially appointed as a Distinguished Professor by Open University Malaysia (OUM). He will hold this prestigious title within the field of Mechanical & Material Engineering under OUM’s Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam earned his Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore and subsequently completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. His specialized research directions focus extensively on carbon materials and carbon-based nanocomposites.

With many years dedicated to teaching, scientific research, and higher education management, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam was recognized as an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering by the State Council for Professor Titles in 2010. He is the author of numerous international papers, the vast majority of which are published in top-tier (Q1) WoS-indexed journals, as well as multiple monograph book chapters. Furthermore, he has presented his research at 18 prestigious international scientific conferences across the United States, Japan, Australia, Singapore, and various European nations.

In his new role at OUM, Distinguished Professor Bui Xuan Lam will actively participate in: Teaching, conducting scientific research, and developing academic curricula; Designing specialized learning modules and instructional materials; Supervising postgraduate theses and dissertations; Proposing laboratory equipment upgrades and expanding new engineering majors; Strengthening strategic connections between the university, corporate sectors, and the international community.
