Alumni Mentoring FBA: Students Develop Effective Communication and Impactful Presentation Skills

06/15/2026
In an era where professional expertise must go hand in hand with soft skills, effective communication and persuasive presentation abilities have become essential requirements for students throughout their academic and career development journeys. To help learners equip themselves with these critical competencies, the Alumni Mentoring FBA program organized the workshop “Words That Carry Weight - Presentations That Leave an Impression” on the evening of June 12th, providing students with practical knowledge and real-world insights into the art of professional communication and presentation.

Workshop participants gained practical experience and valuable insights into communication and presentation skills

Joining the program as guest speakers were two UEF alumni, Mr. Huynh Phuc Hau and Ms. Bui Thi Thuy Anh. Throughout the workshop, students were introduced to the core principles of effective communication, including how to convey information clearly, build meaningful connections with others, and strengthen collaboration in both academic and professional environments. One of the key topics emphasized was active listening, an essential skill that enables individuals to better understand others’ needs, minimize misunderstandings, and foster more positive interactions in both work and daily life.

Dr. Huynh Nhut Nghia, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, presented tokens of appreciation to the two guest speakers

In addition, the workshop helped students identify common communication barriers and understand how to cultivate a professional communication style. Through practical examples and real-life experiences shared by the speakers, participants learned that effective communication is not only about saying the right things but also about adapting messages appropriately to different situations and audiences. This understanding contributes significantly to improving teamwork, learning effectiveness, and professional networking.

The speakers shared practical skills through personal experiences, making the content easier for students to understand and apply

The workshop also guided students on how to structure a logical presentation, identify key messages, and deliver content in a clear and concise manner. The 3C Model: Clear, Concise, and Connect was introduced as a useful framework to help presenters enhance communication effectiveness and create stronger engagement with their audience.
Beyond the content itself, the workshop highlighted the importance of body language in presentations. Eye contact, gestures, vocal delivery, and confident demeanor were presented as crucial elements that enhance credibility, demonstrate professionalism, and help individuals leave a lasting impression on their audience. These are also among the competencies that employers increasingly value when assessing candidates in modern workplaces.

UEF students actively participated in practical exercises and interactive activities

Through the knowledge and experiences shared by accomplished alumni, the workshop helped students gain a deeper appreciation of the value of communication and presentation skills in their personal and professional development. These competencies not only support academic success but also serve as a foundation for confidently participating in academic activities, integrating into professional working environments, and seizing future career opportunities.
