On the afternoon of March 3, UEF welcomed and held a working session with the leadership delegation from La Sierra University (USA), while officially signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions. The event marks another significant milestone in UEF’s internationalization strategy, opening up expanded opportunities for learning, exchange, and research for both students and faculty members.

Representing La Sierra University were Dr. Christon Arthur – President, and Dr. Nguyen Viet Anh – University Representative. Welcoming the delegation on behalf of UEF were Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President; Prof. Dr. Eric Jose Olmedo Panal – Director of the International Institute; Dr. Ly Dan Thanh – Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration; along with leaders and faculty members from the International Institute and the Faculty of Business Administration.
During the session, both sides presented overviews of their development orientations, academic strengths, and learning environments. Discussions focused on the potential implementation of joint academic programs, articulation pathways, and dual-degree programs; the establishment of student and faculty exchange mechanisms; as well as collaboration in scientific research and international academic publishing. These exchanges were grounded in a shared vision of globally integrated education, emphasizing academic quality and international learning experiences.

The signed MOU serves as a legal foundation for both institutions to implement collaborative programs in the near future. Representatives from both sides also agreed on specific directions and next steps to effectively operationalize the partnership. The promotion of articulation and student exchange programs is expected to provide learners with opportunities to access academic environments in the United States, broaden their perspectives, and enhance their competitiveness in a globalized context.

In addition, the potential for research collaboration and international academic publishing is considered a key pillar of the partnership. With a shared orientation toward applied research and deeper academic integration, UEF expects this collaboration to enhance research quality, while creating opportunities for faculty and students to engage in joint projects, academic exchanges, and international publications.
Following the working session, representatives from La Sierra University toured UEF’s facilities and gained insights into its academic and student activities. This provided the delegation with a comprehensive view of the University’s dynamic learning environment, international orientation, and long-term development strategy.
