UEF Signs MOU with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants

On the afternoon of March 6, UEF officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), marking a significant milestone in its strategy of fostering international educational connections. This partnership also provides the foundation for UEF to enhance the quality of its Accounting and Auditing programs in alignment with international standards. 

 

Strategic partnership with ISCA to elevate Accounting and Auditing training at UEF

 

ISCA is Singapore’s leading professional accounting organization, highly regarded for its training programs and recognition of internationally qualified accountants. Through this collaboration, UEF students will gain access to specialized training programs aligned with international standards and will have a clear pathway to becoming Chartered Accountants of Singapore (CA Singapore) while studying in Vietnam.

Attending the signing ceremony were Mr. Tan Wei Lou – Divisional Director, Qualification, Market & Growth, ISCA; Mr. Nguyễn Hoàng Phương – ISCA Vietnam Country Manager; and Ms. Mã Trúc Mai – Business Development Specialist, ISCA. Representing UEF were Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Giang – President; Dr. Hà Thị Thủy – Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting; Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Lâm, MA – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting; along with faculty members and a large number of students.

 

UEF and ISCA officially become strategic partners
 
In her remarks at the ceremony, Dr. Hà Thị Thủy emphasized that the cooperation not only broadens students’ professional knowledge but also creates valuable opportunities for study, internships, and careers in Singapore and with multinational corporations.
On ISCA’s side, Mr. Tan Wei Lou highlighted the potential of UEF students and expressed his expectation for a sustainable partnership that contributes to training highly qualified accountants and auditors for the global labor market.

Key benefits of the UEF–ISCA collaboration for students in Accounting and Auditing:

- Career orientation and professional development: Clear pathways for students to become ISCA Professional Business Accountants or Singapore Chartered Accountants (CA Singapore).

- Connection with expert networks: Stronger links with ISCA – Singapore’s national accounting body – and the global accounting community.

- Curriculum aligned with international standards: Completion of the SCAQ Foundation Program (FP) mapping against UEF’s curriculum by March 2025.

- Recognized Learning Organization (RLO) status: ISCA will consider registering UEF as an accredited training partner, offering students advantages when pursuing training and international certification programs.

- Integration of ISCA Academy programs: UEF students will have the opportunity to access ISCA’s specialized training programs, expanding their academic and professional development from the undergraduate level.

Following the signing ceremony, ISCA representatives engaged with students in a session titled “A Foot in Both Worlds: The Singapore Chartered Accountant Route to KPMG in Vietnam & Singapore”. Students learned about ISCA’s role in advancing the accounting and auditing profession both in Singapore and internationally, the CA Singapore (SCAQ) qualification, its training standards, and the benefits of certification. Career opportunities at KPMG in Vietnam and Singapore, as well as pathways for professional growth in the international accounting and auditing environment, were also shared.

The successful signing of this MOU between UEF and ISCA opens up new opportunities for students, reaffirming UEF’s strategic vision of building international partnerships to enhance education quality and provide students with access to globally recognized accounting training models.
