UEF Welcomes MSU Students for Academic Exchange and International Scholarly Connection

With the aim of promoting international knowledge exchange and strengthening educational cooperation within Southeast Asia, on February 6, UEF organized an exchange program with a student delegation from Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia. The event serves as a foundation for future joint research activities and for sharing practical experience regarding the roadmap for transitioning to international financial reporting standards between the two institutions.

Representing UEF at the program were Dr. Nhan Cẩm Trí, Vice President; Dr. Hà Thị Thủy, Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting; and Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Lâm, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting. Representing MSU, the delegation was led by Mr. Muhamad Faris Bin Muhamad Danial, a representative of the university’s Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Faculty of Business Management, and Professional Studies.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Nhan Cẩm Trí emphasized the importance of establishing cultural and academic connections between Vietnam and Malaysia. He affirmed that such exchange programs offer students opportunities to broaden their global perspectives and strengthen their ability to adapt in multicultural environments. At the same time, they provide a basis for deepening friendship and promoting future high-quality research and training projects, thereby preparing students to integrate into an increasingly dynamic international labor market.

To express friendship and appreciation for UEF’s warm hospitality, the MSU delegation presented the university with a special gift box titled “Hope Box.” It included a variety of items personally selected by the students.

In the presentation on educational orientation, Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Lâm provided an overview of UEF’s facilities and the core values guiding its teaching methodology. The university consistently emphasizes practice-oriented learning through prestigious academic competitions, internships at businesses, and short-term experiential programs both domestically and internationally. In addition, UEF’s diverse extracurricular activities were introduced as an essential component of students’ holistic development.

Representatives of MSU also introduced the university’s extensive multidisciplinary education system, spanning fields from healthcare, aviation, and music to business and engineering. The university is currently strategically focused on sustainable development through specialized research activities in Southeast Asia, identifying Vietnam as one of its key partners for implementing joint academic projects.

Through international exchange programs, MSU seeks to create a favorable environment in which students can freely explore their potential while also promoting humanitarian values and social responsibility within the regional academic community.

A highlight of the event was the thematic presentation "The Vietnam Experience: Transitioning from VAS to IFRS" delivered by Dr. Hà Thị Thủy. She provided an in-depth analysis of the transition roadmap from Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), including key challenges, practical implementation experience, and future prospects for Vietnam’s finance sector. Building on these insights, the two institutions engaged in discussion and proposed directions for future cooperation, while also creating opportunities for students in Finance and Accounting to build a strong foundation in this field.

Following the discussion session, the MSU student delegation toured UEF’s learning facilities, exploring the study environment and specialized practice rooms. The visit enabled the Malaysian students to gain a clear impression of the dynamic international educational environment in Vietnam.
