Cultural Exchange Highlighted in the Welcome Program for the 2025 Cohort of Chinese Language Majors

On the afternoon of October 8, UEF was lively and vibrant with the distinctive colors of Chinese culture. From booths featuring Hanfu, calligraphy, and cuisine to artistic performances, all came together to create a warm and culturally rich atmosphere. In that atmosphere, the welcome ceremony for the 2025 freshmen of the Chinese Language major took place with a range of emotions and heartfelt expectations. The program also officially concluded the series of activities welcoming new students of UEF for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Not only a meeting event, the program was also an occasion for freshmen to begin a new academic journey in a modern environment, while clearly experiencing the spirit of integration and cultural connection—factors that shape the unique identity of UEF students.

UEF shone with the vibrant colors of Vietnamese–Chinese culture during the welcome day for freshmen of the Chinese Language major.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Tu Chau, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Mao Chieu Ha, Consul of the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, along with representatives from various Chinese associations and enterprises such as Bank of China in Ho Chi Minh City, China Construction Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, AQUA Vietnam, KaiYuan, and business associations from Shandong, Guangdong, Anhui, among others.

From UEF, the program welcomed Mr Do Quoc Anh, Vice Chairman of the University Council; Dr Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President; Dr Phan Bao Giang, Vice President; Dr Ly Thien Trang, Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation; Dr Nguyen Thi Lan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures and Head of the Chinese Language program, along with many leaders and lecturers of the Chinese Language major.

The cultural exhibition space enhanced the experience for freshmen.

In his opening speech, Mr. Do Quoc Anh affirmed the attractiveness and development potential of the Chinese Language major in the era of integration: China is one of the countries with strong development in economy, culture, and technology. Therefore, the Chinese language brings many job opportunities and opens up wide career paths for students in various fields. At UEF, students majoring in Chinese Language study in a modern and professional environment, equipped with comprehensive knowledge of language, culture, and professional skills to confidently integrate internationally.

Mr. Do Quoc Anh expressed his confidence in the new generation of students as those who will continue the development journey of the program and contribute to promoting the University’s image to the world.

Representing the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Tu Chau also expressed his pleasure at the increasingly strong cooperation between Vietnam and China, and highly appreciated UEF training orientation: In the context of continuously growing economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and China, learning Chinese is of special importance. It not only helps Vietnamese students expand career opportunities but also contributes to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries. It is hoped that students will continue to promote their learning spirit, becoming cultural bridges and contributing to the shared development of Vietnam and China.

Continuing the sharing from the diplomatic representative, Mr. Zhang Lin, President of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City branch, emphasized the importance of young human resources who are proficient in Chinese and knowledgeable about Chinese culture in the current trend of globalization: Chinese enterprises in Vietnam are always ready to cooperate, creating internship and job opportunities for students with strong language abilities and professional attitudes. UEF students have a great advantage as they study in a dynamic, practical environment with strong connections to businesses. We hope that you will continue to develop your learning spirit, improve your skills, and become outstanding professionals in the future.

Enterprise representatives highlighted the wide range of career opportunities available for students majoring in Chinese Language.

Representing the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan warmly welcomed the freshmen and emphasized the significance of learning a language in connection with culture and people: At UEF, learning Chinese is not only about language but also about understanding and appreciating a culture. It is hoped that students will study with both passion and respect, becoming not only proficient in Chinese but also inspirational individuals who connect Vietnamese and Chinese cultures with confidence and competence.

The Chinese Language program at UEF consistently receives strong support and attention from enterprises.

In addition, the program featured many impressive performances such as Hanfu dance and Chinese singing, along with activities honoring outstanding students and awarding scholarships from enterprises. A highlight of the ceremony was the Touch and Pass the Traditional Flag ritual, symbolizing connection, continuity, and the aspiration to reach further of generations of UEF Chinese Language students.

The learning efforts and activities of students and freshmen were recognized as a strong foundation for them to continue striving forward.

The new journey of the 2025 cohort of Chinese Language freshmen at UEF has officially begun.

Concluding with enthusiastic applause and the excitement of freshmen, the welcoming program for the Chinese Language major not only ended successfully but also opened a new chapter of learning, experience, and Vietnamese Chinese cultural connection in UEF international learning environment. Wishing all freshmen continuous growth, success, and self development with the dedicated support of lecturers.
