UEF students win First Prize at the 4th Expanded Chinese Speech Contest in the Southern Region 2025

Each language is not only a means of communication but also a cultural passport that enables students to step into the world, connect, and understand one another. For students majoring in Chinese Language, the journey of mastering Chinese goes beyond learning characters, it is also a journey of exploring culture, thinking, and the Chinese people. Continuing its mission of building a multicultural learning environment, the University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City (UEF) successfully organized the Final Round of the 4th Expanded Chinese Speech Contest in the Southern Region 2025, held on the morning of October 25.

This year competition gathered 18 teams with 37 contestants from 15 universities, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere. The participants acted as storytellers, showcasing their talent, confidence, and passion for the Chinese language and culture. With an outstanding performance, the UEF team convincingly secured the Championship title.

The competition created a valuable academic playground for students passionate about Chinese language in the Southern region.

The program was attended by Ms. Vuong Han Nhien and Ms. Mao Chieu Ha, Consuls of the Consulate General of the People Republic of China in Ho Chi Minh City, along with representatives from the Chinese Enterprises Association in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City branch, and representatives from Chinese enterprises.

From UEF, the program welcomed Mr. Do Quoc Anh, Vice Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Giang, President; Dr Nhan Cam Tri, Vice President and Head of the Organizing Committee; Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures and Head of the Chinese Language program, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, along with representatives from various departments.

In his opening speech, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri emphasized: This is a valuable opportunity for students to exchange and share knowledge about Chinese language and culture, thereby developing essential skills and fostering the spirit of international integration. Each presentation today serves as a bridge that strengthens the friendship between the two countries. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to enterprises and sponsors who have accompanied the competition from the very beginning.

 Ms. Vuong Han Nhien extended her congratulations and encouragement to the contestants before the decisive round.

Representing the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City,  Ms. Vuong Han Nhien also congratulated the contestants and shared: China and Vietnam are two countries with a long standing friendship. In the new era of development, both nations place great importance on strengthening exchanges and mutual learning among the younger generation. Today competition not only helps Vietnamese students better understand Chinese culture but also fosters connection and contributes to the development of friendship between the two countries.

Serving as judges of the competition were Ms. Mao Chieu Ha, Consul of the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Trau Van Tri, Chief Representative of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Loi Vien Chi, Deputy Sales Director of China Southern Airlines; Mr. Le Phuong Long, Business Development Director of Eroc Commerce Vietnam Co Ltd; and Ms. Hang Ba, a lecturer of Chinese Language in Ho Chi Minh City.

The competition atmosphere became lively and emotional as teams took turns presenting their well prepared speeches. Contestants demonstrated confidence in their presentation style, careful investment in content, costumes, and performance. Each speech was a creative story where language blended with emotions, intelligence, and the passion of young people who love Chinese.

After impressive performances, the UEF team Nguyet Loan Phuong Gia was announced as the First Prize winner. Their excellent, fluent performance and natural, refined expression in Chinese fully convinced both the judges and the audience. This victory is not only a result of talent and effort but also a testament to the quality of language training at UEF. Students are trained in both knowledge and skills, along with the confidence needed for international integration.

The well prepared performance in both content and presentation helped the team achieve a convincing victory.

Two Second Prizes were awarded to team Thanh Thai Phung from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and contestant Ngo Thi Ngoc Bich from Ba Ria Vung Tau University.

Three Third Prizes were awarded to contestant Truong Huynh Mai Uyen from Nguyen Tat Thanh University, the joint team Gaoxin from Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology and Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, and team SanKu from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

The teams left strong impressions and achieved Third Prize.

Five Consolation Prizes were awarded to teams Thien Ly Chi Hanh from UEF, Little Bee from Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Light of Wisdom from Thu Dau Mot University, Dream Chasers of Chinese from Hung Vuong University, and QQ8 from Ton Duc Thang University.

The contestants performances were recognized with Consolation Prizes.

UEF students winning the Championship this year is a great pride for the University, demonstrating their language competence, creative thinking, and global integration mindset in their academic journey. It is the result of continuous training in a dynamic and multicultural academic environment, where students are encouraged to maximize their potential and confidently step into the world with knowledge and competence.

The competition contributed to discovering young talents in the field of language.

Beyond being the host institution, UEF has affirmed its position as an academic bridge between Vietnam and partner countries, especially in language and cultural exchange. Through activities such as the Chinese Speech Contest, international cooperation programs, workshops, and student exchanges, UEF continuously expands the space for knowledge and promotes mutual understanding among cultures. The University considers this its core mission, connecting academia to spread knowledge, foster global integration spirit, and develop global citizens.

The Final Round of the 4th Expanded Chinese Speech Contest in the Southern Region 2025 concluded in a joyful and proud atmosphere. The success of the event once again affirmed UEF as a destination of knowledge, a place that gathers and spreads academic, cultural, and humanistic values in the journey of connecting Vietnamese youth with the international community.
