As part of the Company Tour 2024 activities, on January 23rd, students from the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures, majoring in Korean Language, had a field trip to Lotte Mart in District 7. Besides directly meeting and listening to the leaders and staff share about the operational processes of a professional system, the trip also provided an opportunity for UEF students to connect and expand their relationships with students from Jeju National University.

Notably, the entire sharing and interaction process took place in Korean. This not only demonstrated the dynamic and positive spirit of the UEF students but also affirmed their fluent Korean language skills and deep understanding of the country and people of Korea.

During the visit, UEFers had the opportunity to apply their knowledge and Korean language skills in a real business setting.

On the UEF side, accompanying the students on the trip were: Mr. Huynh Quoc Phong, M.Sc. - Director of the Center for Business Cooperation; Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh, M.Sc. - Vice Head of the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures, Head of the Korean Language Department. Representing Jeju National University was Mr. Gilbert Jung - Head of KITA Jeju.

Lotte Mart representatives welcomed the two student delegations: Mr. Ma Jung Uk - Planning Management Director, and Ms. Nguyen Phuong Anh - Talent Acquisition Manager. They also received enthusiastic support from the supermarket staff.

UEF presents a letter of appreciation to the representative of Lotte Mart.

Meeting with Mr. Ma Jung Uk, students were introduced to the history, development, and direction of the Lotte Group in general, as well as the Lotte supermarket system in particular. With the goal of providing quality shopping experiences for customers and affirming its position in the e-commerce market, Lotte Mart always invests heavily in developing the quality of its human resources.
Sharing advice for students in language-related fields, the speaker suggested that they should seek opportunities at multinational companies or corporations with a global reach or those pursuing international models. These would be suitable places to develop both language skills and problem-solving abilities. In addition, thoroughly understanding the company, its mission, and job requirements before applying is also crucial for each student's adaptation and career development.

Mr. Ma Jung Uk shared valuable tips to help UEFers succeed in securing internships with companies.

Cultural exchange activities between students from both countries were an indispensable highlight of the program. Through a game called "Guess What This Dish Is?", UEF students had the opportunity to spread the culinary beauty of Vietnam's three regions to Korean students by introducing and teaching them how to pronounce the names of dishes. Despite geographical distance and cultural and environmental differences, the eagerness to learn of the young people brought them closer together, allowing them to laugh and create many beautiful memories. It can be said that the trip became a bridge opening up opportunities for exchange and mutual learning for the students, while further strengthening the cooperative relationship between UEF and universities around the world.

The activities received enthusiastic participation from students from both Vietnam and Korea.

During the tour, UEF students also had the opportunity to demonstrate their foreign language skills and their interest in Vietnam-Korea trade issues through a Korean-language public speaking competition. With the topic: "What are the specific differences in shopping habits between Korean and Vietnamese customers at supermarkets?", many fresh perspectives were presented fluently, confidently, and skillfully.

Three outstanding students will have the opportunity to become official interns at Lotte Mart.

The students' entries received positive feedback from Lotte Mart representatives. Mr. Ma Jung Uk praised their Korean language skills and the dedication they put into their presentations. In particular, the three students with the most impressive performances will become official interns and will be assigned to positions that match their abilities and interests starting in May.

UEFers visited and learned about the operational processes at Lotte Mart.

While studying at university provides UEF students with a solid foundation and hones their professional knowledge, these field trips will help them form their own understanding of the business world. Hopefully, this will motivate them to continue developing themselves, seeking quality internship and job opportunities, and successfully achieving their dreams.
