UEFers engaged with Chinese enterprises, gaining insights into international work skills

Aiming to bridge the gap between students and the Chinese business community in Vietnam, the Chinese Language program under the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures organized the talkshow “Chinese Business Exchange” on the morning of January 6th. The event created an open space for direct interaction between students and company representatives, helping them better understand the workforce demands of the international labor market.

The talkshow was attended by representatives from Chinese enterprises, including Mr. Zhou Jian Heng – Vice President of the Guangdong Business Association in Vietnam; Mr. Jiang Yan – Vice President of the Shandong Business Association in Vietnam; Ms. Tran Thi Thien Thanh – HR Manager of Aqua Vietnam Co., Ltd.; Mr. Zou Wen Zhi – Chief Representative of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China in Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thao – HR Director of TCL Smart Electronics Co., Ltd.; Ms. Tran Binh – General Director of Cheng Zhan Vietnam Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Doan Ngoc Long – Head of Sales Department of Shandong Airlines in Ho Chi Minh City.

From UEF, the program welcomed Mr. Do Quoc Anh – Vice Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Nhan Cam Tri – Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan – Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures, along with leaders and lecturers from various departments.

In the opening remarks, on behalf of UEF, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri emphasized the significance of academic and practical exchanges in helping students better understand corporate culture, recruitment requirements, and internship and career opportunities at Chinese enterprises. The program also provided students with a valuable opportunity to develop communication skills, ask questions, and directly engage with real-world insights from employers.

At the talkshow, representatives from Chinese enterprises discussed key skills that help students seize career opportunities in an international environment. In addition to professional expertise, the speakers highlighted intercultural competence, a strong willingness to learn, clear communication skills, and a proactive mindset as essential factors that give fresh graduates a competitive advantage. At the same time, language proficiency was considered a crucial foundation for students to develop sustainably and advance in multinational workplaces.

Another topic that attracted significant attention was the differences in working cultures among Vietnamese, Chinese, and Western enterprises. Through practical examples, the speakers helped students identify distinctions in working styles, communication approaches, professional manners, and organizational expectations, thereby equipping them with important insights for entering the global labor market.

In addition to the professional exchange session, UEF students actively participated by delivering company presentations, directly asking questions to the guests, and receiving advice on CV preparation, recruitment requirements, internship opportunities, training, and career development. The open and bilingual (Vietnamese–Chinese) discussion atmosphere turned the program into an effective platform for learning and connection.
