Scientific conference of Economics Faculty: Solutions for developing enterprises in the new period

The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly influenced the operation and development of many businesses. In order to create a forum to exchange and discuss issues related to the recovery and development of enterprises after the general upheaval, the Economics Faculty has organized a scientific conference with the theme "Solutions for business development in the new period 2021 - 2030” this morning – 25/5/2021.

The program had the participation of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ngo Cao Cuong – Deputy Principal of the UEF, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri – Deputy Principal of the UEF, Dean of Economics Faculty; Vice Deans of Economics Faculty: Dr. Huynh Nhut Nghia, MA. Ly Dan Thanh, MA. Tang My Ha; MA. Nguyen Pham Hai Ha – Deputy Head of the Institute for Postgraduate Education and Science & Technology, and the companionship of lecturers from the Economics Faculty.

The seminar also had the participation of teachers from universities in Ho Chi Minh City through online support software.
The program took place with 4 reports by: MA. Tran Ngoc Nha Vi, MA. Phan Vu Ngoc Lan, MA. Duong Bao Trung and MA. Nguyen Thai Ha.

Opening the program, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri has shared, “This year's scientific yearbook received many articles from lecturers, especially young lecturers. This will create a stepping stone for lecturers to continue developing on their scientific research path.”

At the beginning of the report, MA. Tran Ngoc Nha Vi has mentioned the issue "The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Logistics enterprises in Vietnam". Accordingly, Ms. Vi presented the current situation of affected businesses, analyzed the data based on available data sources, from which she proposed solutions that were considered necessary by most businesses: exemption and postponement of state management inspection; create mechanism, hotline to continuously exchange the updates; strengthening e-commerce, online trading platforms...

Next, MA. Phan Vu Ngoc Lan presented to the council on "Vietnam - European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA): Opportunities and challenges for Vietnam in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic". According to Ms. Lan, after signing this agreement, Vietnam has many opportunities in the context of the pandemic such as: expanding the markets, promoting exports; import raw materials, equipment, services with competitive price, good quality, advanced technology; accelerate the flow of goods and save customs costs; ... Besides, there are certain challenges: intense competitive pressure in the domestic market, strict requirements on export origin rules, strict requirements on hygiene and epidemiology, most businesses do not prepare or prepare at a basic level because they do not know information about the agreement.

Based on her analysis, she also proposed practical solutions: investing in infrastructure, promoting education - technology - health, restructuring, retraining workers, give priority to the recovery of the industries that have great contribution to export turnover.
 

MA. Phan Vu Ngoc Lan with perspectives about EVFTA
 
The topic of "application of information technology in the development of the hotel industry in Ho Chi Minh City" was discussed by MA. Duong Bao Trung. When the epidemic broke out, this smokeless industry was one of the areas that suffered the most, including: a decrease in the number of international visitors; accommodation establishments are closed, workers in the industry are unemployed; revenue from this industry shrinks.
 
To be able to improve this situation in the face of the pandemic, the role of technology becomes more important than ever. Mr. Trung gave examples of hotels that have applied technological methods to serve customers during the epidemic season such as: Yotel Singapore, the butler robot of Mercantile Hotel (New Orleans), or Tmall Genie smart assistant facial recognition technology of Alibaba's Flyzoo (China).
 
 
From the practical perceptions with the general situation, the reporter gave advantages as well as difficulties when applying technological factors in our country. At the same time, he also offered long-term solutions such as: nurturing technology thinking to apply as soon as opportunities arise, improving skills and thinking for hotel staff in accessing high technology, building appropriate facilities, guidance and customer orientation.


MA. Duong Bao Trung brings new perspectives to the theme of tourism 


The report is closed with the topic "Short-term solutions for small and medium-sized logistics enterprises in Vietnam in the complicated situation of the global Covid-19 pandemic" by MA. Nguyen Thai Ha. Accordingly, she has proposed solutions in this field such as: controlling/increasing charter capital, human resource management and customer management, improving the management ability of the organizational apparatus, building relationships with businesses in the industry.

At the end of the report session, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ngo Cao Cuong commended the efforts of the teachers who participated in the research: "I highly appreciate the professional organization of the Economics Faculty. We have noticed that new names have begun to appear in the proceedings. I hope that the Economics Faculty will have more scientists and promote more professional and quality articles.
