UEF Launches External Evaluation of Four Undergraduate and Graduate Programs Under FIBAA Standards

As part of its continuous commitment to enhancing academic quality in alignment with international standards, accreditation plays a vital role in reviewing, improving, and affirming the academic value of study programs.

On the afternoon of March 25, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) officially commenced an external quality assessment for four study programs, conducted in accordance with the standards of Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA).

FIBAA is a prestigious European higher education accreditation organization headquartered in Germany and widely recognized worldwide. The organization specializes in evaluating higher education institutions and academic programs in fields such as economics, business administration, law, and the social sciences and humanities.

 

This accreditation process contributes to enhancing the quality of UEF’s study programs in alignment with international benchmarks

 

During the opening session, representatives from FIBAA discussed with UEF Board of Presidents regarding the university's strategy, internationalization efforts, and the distinctive strengths of UEF’s academic offerings

The current evaluation covers four programs: Korean Language, Chinese Language, and Law (undergraduate level), and English Language (master’s level). The review is being conducted online from March 25 to March 27, featuring a series of in-depth working sessions between the FIBAA expert panel and relevant stakeholders.

According to the agenda, the external evaluation includes a range of activities such as meetings with UEF Board of Presidents, interviews with program directors, faculty members, students, alumni, and administrative staff. These sessions are intended to ensure a comprehensive and objective review in full compliance with FIBAA accreditation standards.

Attending the opening ceremony on behalf of FIBAA were Dr. Marco Haid, FIBAA Project Manager, together with members of the expert panel, including Prof. Dr. Eva Wilden (University of Duisburg-Essen), Prof. Dr. Jan Bruckermann (University of Applied Sciences, Cologne Campus), Asst. Prof. Dr. Diana Yuksel (University of Bucharest), Dr. Wei-lun Lu (Masaryk University), Dr. Nguyen Duy Mong Ha (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), Mr. Yew Meng (Ines Enterprise/Transmedia Asia Sdn. Bhd), and Ms. Elisa Knief (student representative from the University of Hannover and Goethe University).

Representing UEF were Mr. Do Quoc Anh - Vice Chairman; Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc - Vice President; Dr. Ho Vien Phuong -Vice President; Dr. Ngo Minh Hai - Vice President; Dr. Ly Thien Trang - Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation; Dr. Le Vu Huong Giang, Director of Department of Quality Assurance; Mr. Le Dung - Director of Department of Academic Services; along with faculty leaders, program heads, and lecturers from Graduate Education Institute, the Faculty of English, and the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Ly Thien Trang provided an overview of UEF and emphasized the University’s strategic direction toward developing study programs aligned with international benchmarks. She highlighted accreditation as an essential mechanism for comprehensively reviewing program quality, from curriculum design and teaching methodologies to student support services.

UEF representatives also expressed their expectation that the evaluation would be conducted effectively and welcomed feedback from FIBAA as valuable input for continuous improvement and further enhancement of academic quality in the years ahead.

In response, FIBAA representatives introduced the members of the expert panel and outlined the procedures as well as the content of the review sessions to be conducted throughout the evaluation period..
As part of the opening session, representatives of the evaluated programs delivered presentations on their curricula, focusing on program structure, credit systems, academic orientation, teaching and learning activities, and student support services. These presentations provided the expert panel with an overall understanding of program implementation at UEF and laid the foundation for more in-depth discussions in the subsequent sessions.

Following the opening session, the FIBAA expert panel proceeded with separate discussions with UEF Board of Presidents and conducted in-depth interviews to evaluate each program against the accreditation criteria.

Overall, the continued implementation of external evaluations in accordance with FIBAA standards provides valuable opportunities to benchmark its academic programs against international standards, thereby further refining its educational system and enhancing the student learning experience. With thorough preparation and a strong spirit of cooperation, UEF aims to achieve positive accreditation results upon completion of the external evaluation.
