10/30/2023

Along with the development of international academic programs facilitating students to engage in the Japan corporate internship, UEF has organized many cultural exchange events with different nations, especially the international student exchange program. Most recently, UEF has sent a new batch of students to study in China. They quickly got used to the activities and the pace of life there over the period.

Among 9 UEFers exchanging in China this period, there are 3 students enrolling at Qufu Normal University and 6 others studying at Guangxi University for Nationalities. All of them are juniors and seniors majoring in Chinese Language. The program takes place from September 2023 to February 2024.

Le Hoang Kim Phuc, intake 2020, one of three UEFers studying at Qufu Normal University shared: “After two weeks in China, I’m getting used to the weather as well as  the healthy and punctual lifestyle. I’ve also attended the open ceremony with Chinese freshmen, made friends, and studied with many international students".

Huynh Thi Ngoc Linh, intake 2021, also expressed: “I think the life here is quite similar to that in Vietnam. Everything has gone well apart from walking a lot. Recently, there have been many places for discovery and entertainment but I've just visited the night markets, the beaches, etc. I hope that we will learn and explore more new and insightful knowledge in the upcoming time.”

Qufu Normal University is a long-history and large-scale university in Shandong, China as they are considered one of the UEF strategic partners. The two universities both came to a decision to hold the MOU signing ceremony in June 2023. UEF has also sent many students to QFNU in the international student exchange program.

Furthermore, UEF and Guangxi University for Nationalities (GXUN) have also cooperated in holding various programs, learning activities, and cultural events such as the online study abroad program “Experience Chinese culture” with useful sessions relating to the art of Chinese knotting, martial art, paper cutting, and ink wash painting. Most recently, UEF welcomed GXUN students to study in the international exchange program.

UEFers quickly made friends and integrated with students from other countries

Taking advantage of these valuable opportunities to experience and explore in a billion-people country, Kim Phuc expreseed: “I am absolutely impressed by its traffic culture that transport vehicles usually yielded to pedestrians. Since the lecturers are always thoughtful and supportive, I can feel a sense of familiarity".

“Personally, I think that there is not that much difference between living in China and Vietnam, so I adapt quite well. What interests me most is that the university is near the coast so I can relax at beaches nearby whenever I feel under the weather. I could join various interesting cultural classes, drawing, paper cutting, etc.! The lecturers are adorable, enthusiastic, and also supportive,” Phan Hoang Thien Kim, an exchange student at Qufu Normal University, said.

Thien Kim also added her particular memory: “There was a time that I went out and didn't know how to catch a taxi, my supervisor picked me up and took me back to the dorm".

Hopefully, other UEFers will seize this moment to proactively join in the student exchange programs to obtain more valuable experiences in their university life.
