In the context of increasing globalization, participating in international internships has become a crucial part of students' development journeys. At UEF, the internship programme in Japan not only offers opportunities to learn about the language, culture, and work ethic of one of the world’s leading economies but also helps UEFers enhance their soft skills and foster comprehensive personal growth.

SEPTEMBER 24, the Center of Corporate Partnerships, in cooperation with UEF’s Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, sent three students to Japan to begin their year-long internship.

At the farewell gathering at Tan Son Nhat Airport, along with the students’ families and friends, Dr. Vo Van Thanh Than, Director of UEF Center of Vietnam-Japan Human Resources Development and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, attended. He was joined by Ms. Nguyen Thai Ha, Deputy Director of the Center of Corporate Partnerships, and other faculty members from the Center and Faculty.

Joining the farewell were UEF faculty members, family, and friends

Departing for Japan on this internship are: Nguyen Lam Thao (Class of 2020), Do Thuy Van (Class of 2021), and Tran Quynh Han (Class of 2021). They will be participating in learning and practical experiences at Nukabirakan Kanko Hotel, where their duties will include maintaining cleanliness in rooms and common areas, serving guests, assisting with cooking, restaurant service, laundry, and front desk responsibilities. UEFers will also receive training in essential skills, such as fire safety, disaster preparedness, and hygiene management.

Additionally, the students will learn Japanese cooking techniques, explore famous landmarks, enjoy the unique cuisine, and immerse themselves deeply in local culture, making their experience both vivid and enriching.

Dr. Vo Van Thanh Than offered words of encouragement to the students and their families, helping to boost their confidence for the international internship experience. He noted that the number of UEFers interning in Japan has grown significantly, with returning students showing marked progress.

Dr. Than emphasized that this internship provides an excellent opportunity for UEFers to engage in cultural exchange with international peers, expand their Japanese vocabulary, and improve their communication skills through frequent interactions with local colleagues and customers. He also reminded the group of the importance of mutual support while abroad.

Before they proceeded with formalities, Dr. Than highlighted essential guidelines for students to “make a positive impression” on Japanese partners. They were advised to strictly adhere to time schedules and corporate regulations and to make frequent use of Japanese to strengthen their language skills. Ms. Nguyen Thai Ha also shared that adapting to a new environment can be challenging, but with the energy and determination of UEF students, she is confident they will overcome any obstacles they may encounter.

The faculty members shared their hopes and expectations as the students embarked on this significant milestone

The growing number of students participating in international internships not only reflects UEF’s robust internationalization strategy but also reaffirms the university's commitment to creating a rich learning and experiential environment for its students. UEF continually strives to seek the best opportunities, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for personal growth and success. It is hoped that the students will make the most of this experience to learn and grow. Wishing the three UEFers a successful internship and having many memorable experiences!
