UEF welcomes Japanese girls' school delegation with exciting activities

To promote international cooperation and provide a practical language learning environment, UEF consistently organizes cultural exchange programs and knowledge sharing with global institutions through various means.

AUGUST 23 – the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures at UEF warmly welcomed a delegation of students from Urawa Daiichi Girls' High School in Saitama Province, Japan, to UEF's campus for an exchange event and participation in various exciting activities. The event left our friends from the Land of the Rising Sun with many impressive moments and beautiful memories. This occasion has paved the way to expand UEFers’ international connections and come closer to achieving proficiency in Japanese.

It is known that Saitama is one of the provinces with a significant number of Vietnamese residents living and working there. Therefore, the female students from this location had prior interaction with Vietnamese people and some understanding of our country.

Accompanying and guiding the students from Urawa Daiichi Girls' High School were Ms. Shirai Satoko - Head of the Japanese JTB delegation; as well as Mr. Nishimuta Toru, and Mr. Sato Takeshi - teachers from Urawa Daiichi Girls' High School.

Dr. Vo Van Thanh Than - Dean, Faculty of International Languages ​​and Cultures; Mr. Cao Do Quyen - Head, Japanese Language Department, Faculty of International Languages ​​and Cultures; along with faculty members and students from the Faculty of Languages ​​and International Cultures, representing UEF.

At UEF, the Japanese female students were given a detailed introduction to the modern and high-quality educational facilities of the University. In addition, Dr. Vo Van Thanh Than also shared information about students majoring in Japanese Language, along with similar international exchange programs that have been continuously organized by the University and the Faculty. These programs create opportunities for students to expand their international networks, enhance their knowledge and skills, as well as develop their competence.

After being introduced to the university, the international delegation toured UEF's facilities. They were all pleasantly surprised by the university's facilities, from dedicated practical areas for tourism and hospitality management majors to entertainment zones, sports facilities, etc.

Proficient in both English and Japanese, UEFers quickly got to know and made friends with the Japanese female students. The guests also assimilated rapidly, appreciating the warm and hospitable reception provided by their “hosts”.

In the early afternoon, a series of exciting activities took place, drawing the keen interest and enthusiastic participation of the Japanese delegation. Notable among the activities were learning Vietnamese, playing Kahoot, Vietnamese bingo, exploring and decorating conical hats, etc. While most of the students found learning Vietnamese difficult, they still tried their best to communicate using basic sentences. The intrigue heightened when they were guided to count and participate in Vietnamese bingo games. UEFers and the student group also unleashed their creativity by designing beautiful pictures and patterns on traditional Vietnamese conical hats.

At the end of the program, the Japanese female students shared that they had learned a lot from this visit. They gained a deeper understanding of Vietnamese people and culture, from savoring special dishes to appreciating the graceful images of the 'ao dai' and conical hats. The delegation also showed enthusiasm for learning the Vietnamese language. Regardless of the language and cultural barriers, the students spent the entire day together, participating in numerous bonding activities, offering mutual support, and contributing to the success of this highly beneficial program.

Ms. Shirai Satoko took a liking to UEFers; “in addition to being active, enthusiastic, and hospitable, they were also very good at English and Japanese," she added. "The university looks beautiful and modern," "the cuisine is delicious," and "Vietnamese is interesting." were Mr. Sato Takeshi's impressions of this trip. The delegation also expressed their gratitude to UEFers for the warm welcome and the meaningful exchange program. They are looking forward to welcoming UEF students to Japan.

On this occasion, many valuable lessons were learned and numerous beautiful memories were created for both Japanese female students and UEF students. This will serve as a strong bridge for both institutions to further enhance cooperation with many other useful programs in the future.
