E-commerce students took part in Ho Chi Minh City’s Innovation and Startup Week

05/03/2026
On the morning of December 17, Ho Chi Minh City’s Innovation and Startup Week (WHISE 2024) officially opened with the theme “Innovation and startups for sustainable development.” This is the city’s largest annual event in innovation, science and technology, and startups, featuring a series of more than 20 events throughout December. UEF’s representatives included leaders from the Project Design Training Center: Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung (MSc.), Director, and Ms. Ha Le Thu Hoai (MSc.), Deputy Director, along with a group of students whose projects joined the exhibition.

UEF representatives attended the WHISE 2024 exhibition, a city-wide event.
In her opening speech, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, said that the city’s startup ecosystem has continued to grow in recent years. This also shows how attractive the city’s startup and innovation ecosystem is, as it keeps nurturing breakthrough ideas and helping innovative businesses grow and reach international markets.
One highlight was the “Innovation and Startup Exhibition,” held over two days (December 17–18). It featured many key activities from Ho Chi Minh City’s startup ecosystem, including exhibitions of products and services from innovative startups (including those from universities), startup support organizations, STEM companies, and technology products from banks and other businesses. The event had 150 booths, including 10 booths from international partners.
UEF’s participation this time included the startup project team “EZD – a platform for skill development and internship connection.” The team members were winners of the Young Innovator 2024 competition: Lam Gia Linh (Faculty of Business Administration), Nguyen Le Duong Ngoc (Faculty of Marketing), and Nguyen Ngoc Quynh Nhu and Huynh Vu Tuan Tu (E-commerce major, Faculty of Information Technology).

The EZD startup project by UEF students received a lot of attention from Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
At the event, EZD received a lot of interest and had discussions about the startup project with leaders from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, as well as departments, agencies, businesses, and investment funds at WHISE 2024. The young UEF startup team was excited to present their project and noted many questions and positive feedback from experts.

Taking part in the event and connecting with businesses and experts in innovation, science, and technology provides a strong foundation for UEF lecturers and students to broaden their perspectives and explore more breakthrough ideas. From there, they can learn, improve the quality of the project-design training program, and enhance creative research activities at UEF.
