On the morning of January 10, UEF’s Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) successfully held the Student Scientific Research Workshop for Semester 1 of the 2024–2025 academic year, marking a new step forward in student research activities. This event gave UEF students a chance to show their creativity, apply what they have learned in real situations, and explore and develop new research ideas.
The workshop attracted the attention of many students.
The program was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Luan, Deputy Head of the Office of Science and Technology and International Projects. From the Faculty of Information Technology, there were Dr. Van Thi Thien Trang, Vice Dean, Ms. Hoang Thi Hang, Assistant to the Dean, along with other lecturers and students of the faculty.
In his speech at the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Luan highlighted the important role of information technology in today’s rapid development, especially artificial intelligence, whose advantages are being recognized more and more. He hoped the Faculty of Information Technology would continue to promote scientific research activities and also find creative directions to make effective use of the current “technology boom,” opening new opportunities for students and the academic community.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Luan highly appreciated the FIT students’ enthusiasm for doing research.
Next, Mr. Hoang Van Hieu (MSc.), Head of the Information Technology program, proudly mentioned the research achievements that previous generations of students have earned. These results are not only proof of the young students’ effort and creativity, but also a strong source of inspiration that encouraged the faculty to organize this workshop. He emphasized that this event will continue to be a launching pad for students to go further on their journey of gaining knowledge and exploring new horizons in scientific research.
Mr. Hoang Van Hieu (MSc.) shared the achievements of the scientific research movement in the faculty.
After carefully reviewing all 17 research projects, the Faculty of Information Technology selected 4 outstanding topics, bringing fresh and practical perspectives to the workshop.
Four research teams presented their reports.
Specifically, the project “Analyzing trends in social media use and their impact on users’ psychology” by students Nguyen Dang Ngoc Anh, Nguyen Huynh Bao Han, Huynh Manh Hung, and Nguyen Da Giao Dang, under the supervision of Mr. Nguyen Thi Hoai Linh (MSc.), Head of the Data Science program, highlighted how social media affects modern life.
Next, the project “Analyzing factors that influence university choice” by students Tran Nguyen Manh Thong, Nguyen Thanh Kieu Vi, and Nguyen Thanh Tam, supervised by Mr. Hoang Van Hieu (MSc.), Head of the Information Technology program, explored the key factors that shape students’ decisions when choosing a university. In addition, students Nguyen Minh Quang and Nguyen Tuan Kiet, supervised by Mr. Tran Thanh Cong (MSc.), Head of the E-commerce program, presented “Marketing campaign proposal for the Folio application – stationery services,” which analyzed a marketing strategy for the Folio app in the stationery service sector.
Finally, the project “Research on AI tools for education” by students Le Hong Anh, Vo Tan Dat, Tran Ngoc Tan, Tran Tien Nguyen Dat, and Nguyen Ba Thinh, supervised by Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan (MSc.), Head of the Applied Informatics division, explored the potential of using artificial intelligence in education. These topics reflect students’ creativity and research mindset, open up many opportunities for real-world application, and contribute to improving academic and research quality in the Faculty of Information Technology.
The authors took turns presenting their research projects.
After the lively presentations, the workshop moved to an important part: recognizing and awarding prizes to the best research projects. The awards were given to outstanding topics, acknowledging the students’ effort and creativity. The winning projects not only showed a strong research spirit but also opened up new potential for real-world application in their fields. This is a strong motivation, encouraging students to keep pursuing their passion for research and innovation in the future.
The lecturers listened carefully and gave feedback to improve each project.
The faculty presented awards to the teams to encourage students’ scientific research spirit.
The Student Scientific Research Workshop for Semester 1 of the 2024–2025 academic year ended successfully, leaving a strong impression of the research spirit among students of UEF’s Faculty of Information Technology. The projects that were successfully accepted will now move into a careful preparation stage, fixing any remaining issues to get ready for the university-level student scientific research competition. Hopefully, this research spirit will continue to grow and spread across the UEF student community, encouraging students to keep creating, seeking new solutions, and contributing to society’s development.
