Information Technology
1. Program Overview
Today, as all fields are increasingly digitized and technology replaces many human activities with high applicability and unlimited innovation, Information Technology (IT) has become a leading discipline that attracts dynamic, passionate young people.
The Information Technology undergraduate program at the University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City (UEF) has been implemented under a high-quality training model since 2015 and is managed by the Faculty of Information Technology. The program operates under the official major code issued by the Ministry of Education and Training (Decision No. 7923/QĐ-BGDĐT dated December 14, 2007, and Official Dispatch No. 234/BGDĐT-GDĐH dated January 16, 2015). The first student intake took place in 2015.
Each year, the curriculum is regularly reviewed and updated based on feedback from students and employers, and evaluated and approved by the University’s Scientific Council.
Despite the wide availability of IT programs nationwide, UEF continues to attract Information Technology students thanks to the following advantages:

2. General Objectives
The program aims to train Information Technology graduates with strong political awareness, professional ethics, and good physical health; solid foundational and specialized knowledge in IT; and the ability to design, develop, and deploy IT applications across economic, political, and social sectors.
Graduates are equipped with both fundamental and in-depth professional knowledge, strong practical competencies, adaptability to the fluctuations of the market economy, and the ability to integrate into advanced technological environments regionally and globally. The program also provides a solid foundation for lifelong learning and postgraduate studies.
3. Specific Objectives
Graduates of the Information Technology program are expected to achieve the following:
Knowledge
- PO1: Fundamental knowledge of natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, political theory, Vietnamese law, national defense and security, and physical education.
- PO2: Fundamental and advanced theoretical knowledge of Information Technology to effectively adapt to various roles such as theoretical research, model development, technical design, technology solution development, consulting, management, and production.
Skills
- PO3: Teamwork skills, problem-solving skills, communication skills, and the ability for self-learning and independent research to meet practical demands.
- PO4: Skills in analyzing, designing, and developing IT systems or consulting technology solutions, as well as managing IT projects in organizations, enterprises, and educational institutions.
- PO5: Skills in evaluating work quality after completion, critical thinking, and selecting alternative solutions in uncertain or changing environments.
Attitudes
- PO6: Strong political awareness and compliance with laws and regulations.
- PO7: Professional ethics specific to the IT profession and a strong sense of responsibility toward society and the community.

4. Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
- PLO1: Apply foundational knowledge of mathematics, political theory, social sciences and humanities, Vietnamese law, and national defense and security; demonstrate awareness of physical fitness and self-development.
- PLO2: Apply core IT knowledge in programming, data analysis and design, and computer networks to adapt to various roles such as theoretical research, model development, technical design, technology solution development, consulting, management, and advanced research, with the ability to quickly approach emerging technologies.
- PLO3: Apply specialized IT knowledge in professional practice, including:
- Software engineering knowledge to develop application software;
- Information systems knowledge to design and develop data and information management systems;
- Computer networking knowledge to deploy, monitor, and administer network and communication systems;
- Information and data security knowledge to build reliable and secure IT systems;
- Artificial intelligence knowledge to develop intelligent and automated applications.
- PLO4: Demonstrate organizational, leadership, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills; communicate effectively through writing, presentations, discussions, negotiations, and proficient use of modern tools and technologies.

Participation in academic competitions to strengthen knowledge and skills
- PLO5: Analyze and solve technical problems in Information Technology, including software systems, information systems, computer networks, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.
- PLO6: Demonstrate critical thinking, evaluation of work quality, experimental and research capabilities, and propose innovative solutions.
- PLO7: Achieve Level 3/6 English proficiency according to the Vietnamese Foreign Language Competency Framework; effectively use English in professional contexts.

- PLO10: Demonstrate self-direction, planning, resource coordination, professional evaluation, decision-making, ability to defend personal viewpoints, and continuous improvement of work effectiveness.
