09/09/2024

In recent years, UEF (University of Economics and Finance) has increasingly demonstrated its orientation towards the internationalization of education by consistently sending students to participate in exchange semesters, international internships, and summer camps at prestigious universities around the world.

Kicking off the new academic year 2024-2025, the university has sent six students from the Chinese Language Department to Guangxi University for Nationalities and Guangxi University to participate in a six-month exchange semester. At the same time, UEF has just welcomed back 21 students who completed the “International Summer Camp” programme at Guangxi University.

Exchange semesters offer UEFers a wealth of new knowledge and experiences

In addition to European and American countries, UEF has also strengthened its educational connections with developed Asian countries, particularly China. The university consistently organizes cultural and artistic exchange activities, academic competitions, and international study programmes in collaboration with prestigious universities in this country.

Following the success of previous collaborations, UEF continues to place its trust in and send six students to participate in an international exchange for the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year. This is a positive sign, signaling an exciting new academic year filled with enthusiasm and many achievements.

The list of students traveling to China includes six individuals. Among them, the group of students Truong Thi My Linh, Hua Vi Linh, and Đao Truong Yen will study at Guangxi University for Nationalities, while Do Thi Ngoc Trinh, Ho Ngoc Minh, and Dang Thao Nhi will gain new experiences alongside international peers at Guangxi University. All six UEFers are from the 2022 cohort, majoring in Chinese Language.

The students are set to officially begin their studies in September 2024. The exchange programme will last for six months, during which they will focus on learning and improving their business Chinese skills, as well as gaining valuable lessons and experiences related to Chinese culture.

Teachers, family, and friends have sent their best wishes to the UEFers before their departure

With this opportunity, UEF hopes that the students will make the most of it to enrich their knowledge, broaden their thinking, and enhance their personal development, gradually approaching the ideal of becoming "global citizens."

After completing the international summer camp, 21 UEFers have gained valuable lessons

Departing on August 23, the 21 students who participated in the international summer camp in China have returned with their "luggage" full of new knowledge, skills, and experiences. Wrapping up an exciting summer, this group of students is now ready to enter the new academic year with high determination and enthusiasm, eager to apply what they have learned and make the most of the opportunities ahead.

The summer camp welcomed students from five countries, expanding opportunities for UEFers to connect with international friends

According to the organizers, this year's programme saw the participation of students from five different countries. UEF was the only university from Vietnam to receive this special opportunity for learning and cultural exchange. Aware of this honor, UEFers proudly represented their university and country, confidently showcasing the dynamic, creative, and open-minded spirit of Vietnamese students to their international peers. This experience not only enhanced their global connections but also allowed them to share and learn from diverse cultures.

The UEF participants were awarded certificates of completion for the programme

After two weeks, the students gained valuable lessons through a variety of unique activities such as learning, cultural exchanges, and experiencing local tourism and cuisine. Throughout their participation in the summer camp, UEFers adhered to the regulations, maintained discipline, and completed their tasks. Moreover, they confidently used foreign languages to expand their communication, building strong and meaningful relationships with international friends.

Reflecting on the vibrant summer, Dao Anh Nhi, a student majoring in Chinese Language, reminisced: "As the trip ended, I still have vivid memories of the snail-based noodle dish (Bun oc). In addition to enjoying this unique dish, which carries the distinct flavors of Guangxi, we had the chance to visit the production facilities and observe the process of making this specialty in canned form. Moreover, after our cultural lessons and Chinese language classes, the international students performed a traditional song. The happiest moment for me was when I, along with other UEFers, wore traditional costumes and proudly performed the song 'Vietnam in My Heart.' The farewell was filled with emotion and regret. We don’t know when we will have the chance to meet our international friends again, but the bond, the connection, and the memories of this meaningful journey will forever stay in our hearts."

Anh Nhi and her fellow students were excited by the engaging cultural studies class at Guangxi University.

Sharing the same sentiment, Vo Thi Diem Quynh, a student of the Faculty of English, felt emotional about the memorable moments spent with friends from around the world. Additionally, Diem Quynh shared: 'Studying at Guangxi University is a valuable opportunity for me to improve my Chinese language skills. I've had the chance to learn new things about Guangxi University and Nanning city from my teachers and international friends. This will be an ideal school for students to study and have amazing experiences.
For Quach Buu Oanh from the Faculty of Economics, 'The past two weeks have been incredibly meaningful for me. I've experienced studying in a Green campus environment. Guangxi University provided me with the chance to study and engage in cultural exchange with international friends. I feel excited and pleased with the opportunity to meet and learn from my peers and instructors. Participating in group activities and in-depth language classes has helped us broaden our knowledge and skills. Furthermore, the new environment and experiences, such as learning calligraphy and kungfu, have brought me a lot of excitement.'

A variety of activities help students develop their knowledge and skills

Traveling to China to accompany the student group back to Vietnam and to attend the programme’s closing ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, shared: 'The past two weeks have been a very memorable and meaningful time for our students. Not only have they improved their specialized language skills through classroom learning, but they also participated in vibrant lectures organized by the host university, experiencing firsthand the beauty of Chinese and Guangxi culture. I remember, during dinner with the students, some shared with me, saying, “I've fallen in love with Guangxi; I want to stay longer and am not ready to leave!” I am confident that in the near future, UEF students will once again appear on the Guangxi University campus. Teaching language skills to students is not difficult, but teaching in a way that also brings them joy is not an easy task. Here, I am very grateful to your university for providing our students with such a meaningful and valuable programme. I hope we can continue to receive your support and cooperation in the future.'

In the new academic year, the University will continue to organize numerous international study programmes for students. Therefore, get ready now by starting to learn and develop essential skills, especially foreign languages, to seize opportunities as they arise. Accessing education from international partners will help UEFers broaden their knowledge and perspectives, equipping them confidently to achieve new accomplishments both academically and in their future careers.
