08/08/2024

UEF had an in-depth working session with the lecturer delegation of the Kanazawa Institute of Technology

Participating in the exchange and working session with UEF were Prof. Ryo Kanai, Mr. Yoshito Nishida, and Ms. Hitomi Sakai - Lecturers, Center of Project Design (K.I.T). On behalf of UEF, there were Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Director, Center of Project Design Education; Ms. Ha Le Thu Hoai - Deputy Director, Center of Project Design Education, and lecturers of the center.

The working session emphasized the discussion of the Project Design modules in both institutions' curricula. From UEF's side, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung presented the content of the Project Design 1 and Project Design 2 courses, which are implemented for UEF students each semester. Through these courses, students become acquainted with Project-based Learning to cultivate both professional and interdisciplinary skills, as well as enhance their problem-solving skills through the use of Design Thinking and an innovation mindset.

UEF representatives provided information on the Project Design curriculum

PD courses provided students with diverse and up-to-date concepts rooted in the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Aiming to raise awareness of sustainable development and foster a sense of community among UEFers, the table of contents was designed to meet program outcomes and align with the principles of global citizenship.

Through their participation in the co-teaching class of the Project Design Innovation Workshop and classroom visits to Project Design 2 at UEF over the past three days, Prof. Ryo Kanai and the lecturers from the Center of Project Design (K.I.T) highly appreciated the information shared by UEF representatives during the working sessions. Prof. Kanai also expressed his strong impression of UEFers' innovative ideas and their ability to communicate effectively in English during his opportunities to meet and interact with them.

Students experienced Project Design courses from basic to advanced levels at K.I.T

K.I.T representatives also outlined development plans for their Project Design courses. Prof. Kanai shared that, along with standard traditional courses such as Introduction to PD and PD 1 - 2 - 3, K.I.T will be launching a special PD course in the upcoming academic year, consisting of three distinctive elements: applying design thinking to identify and solve problems; integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into research and data analysis; and contributing to local community development by addressing community issues.

Innovative features to be implemented in K.I.T special PD program

K.I.T is eager for students to gain valuable insights through this special course. Additionally, K.I.T representatives expressed their strong desire for future collaboration with UEF lecturers and students.

The meeting marked the conclusion of a series of activities during the Japanese lecturer delegation’s business trip to Vietnam. The discussion sessions have opened up new opportunities for expert collaboration on the “specialty” module between both institutes.
