FBA Lecturer Shares PLS-SEM Workflow on R: From Raw Data Processing to Automated Reporting

To support faculty members, lecturers, and students in accessing advanced data analysis methods for scientific research, Nguyen Phu Quoi, a lecturer at the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), delivered a session titled “Building a Standardized PLS-SEM Workflow on R: From Raw Data to Model and Hypothesis Testing” on the morning of August 24.
The session focused on shifting the research mindset from running short, standalone scripts to building an automated pipeline that is transparent, highly reusable, and designed to minimize errors throughout the data processing process.
The workshop was attended by leaders and lecturers of the Faculty of Business Administration.
The standardized workflow was developed around five core principles: reproducibility, modularity, rigorous validation, rule-based evaluation, and automated reporting.
Through 10 practical steps, the workflow guided participants through the entire research process, from data import and cleaning to specifying the measurement and structural models, testing hypotheses using Bootstrapping with 5,000 resamples, evaluating explanatory and predictive power, and automatically exporting results to Word or Excel files.

The session highlighted the importance of checking the quality of input data and conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the model rather than relying solely on p-values. Following a structured workflow not only enables researchers to gain a deeper understanding of the direct and indirect relationships among variables but also helps optimize analysis time when changes are made to the model.
