UEF English Language Master’s Students In-depth Linguistic Research in the Digital Age

Language is not only a means of exchanging information but also a bridge that connects cultures and a key to unlocking global knowledge. In the context of deep integration and breakthroughs in digital technology, the study of English becomes a journey to explore changes in intercultural communication, thereby enabling access to more modern and effective teaching methodologies.
 
December 12, the UEF Graduate Education Institute organized the Master’s thesis defense council for English Language students of the 2023 cohort. The session marked the end of the students’ academic journey, affirming UEF’s training quality and strategic vision in developing highly qualified human resources for the field of linguistics.
 
UEF congratulates English Language students for successfully defending their capstone projects.
The council consisted of distinguished experts in linguistics and English language teaching, namely: Assoc. Prof. Pham Huy Cuong, Assoc. Prof. Duong My Tham, Assoc. Prof. Tran Quoc Thao, Dr. Luu Thi Mai Vy, Dr. Tran Tin Nghi, Dr. Le Thi Nguyet, Dr. Bui Thi Thuc Quyen, Dr. Le Thi Thuy Nhung, Dr. Vu Thi Hong Van, and Dr. Hoang Viet Hien.
 
The highlight of this session was the diversity and contemporary relevance of the research topics. The students boldly explored current realities in language education in the Industry 4.0 era. Some studies examined the application of AI technologies to enhance English communication skills, reflecting the ongoing digital transformation in education. Others analyzed psychological and social factors influencing Vietnamese students’ motivation to learn foreign languages in the post-pandemic context.
 
Notably, many projects ventured into intercultural linguistics, analyzing differences in business communication styles between Eastern and Western cultures, as well as exploring strategies for developing intercultural competence among students in multinational learning environments. These studies are not only academically valuable but also highly applicable in the context of Vietnam attracting increasing levels of international investment.

Throughout all sessions, each project was carefully reviewed by the council with fairness, professionalism, and constructive feedback. The faculty members positively evaluated the students’ academic commitment, providing specific feedback on limitations and challenges, along with guidance for further refinement of the projects before final archival.

UEF congratulates the English Language Master’s students on successfully defending their capstone projects. These projects represent the outcome of a persistent scholarly journey, involving countless hours of research, data analysis, and dedicated exploration. From this new starting point, the students are well equipped with advanced knowledge, sound research methodologies, and strong determination to contribute to society and to promote progress in the fields of linguistics and education.
