UEF MBA Capstone Projects Reflect Economic Trends and Corporate Management Issues

Amid a rapidly changing business environment, the expansion of digital transformation, and constantly evolving management models, selecting research topics closely connected to real-world practice has become an important requirement in postgraduate training programs. This was also a key highlight recognized by the evaluation councils during the master’s thesis defenses of the Business Administration program, organized by UEF’s Graduate Education Institute from December 3 to 5 for students of the 2023 and 2024 cohorts.
Over the three days of evaluation, the councils appreciated UEFers’ persistent efforts and their growth in research thinking and problem-solving.
From the topics presented, it is evident that students are actively engaged with pressing issues facing today’s markets and business operations. Many projects focused on finance and banking, addressing relevant topics such as credit risk management amid economic fluctuations, the quality of digital banking services in an increasingly competitive environment, customer deposit behavior, and solutions to enhance the competitiveness of retail financial services. These topics clearly reflect the impact of digital transformation and changes in consumer behavior, while also demonstrating the students’ strong ability to observe and analyze real-world practices.
In addition, a significant group of projects examined human resource management and organizational behavior, including topics such as employee motivation, engagement, training effectiveness, corporate culture, and the influence of leadership styles. These issues are particularly critical as organizations adapt to trends such as flexible work arrangements, organizational streamlining, and performance management aligned with international standards.
Other projects demonstrated high levels of practical applicability in areas including logistics and supply chain management, international trade, marketing, consumer behavior, sustainable development, digital marketing, and brand communication. The diversity of topics illustrates how students effectively integrated theoretical knowledge with real-world business and market contexts.
Overall, the projects evaluated in this round demonstrated open-minded thinking and strong alignment with current economic trends, while clearly reflecting the application-oriented training direction of UEF’s Master of Business Administration program.
The evaluation committees were organized in accordance with professional standards and included experienced scholars and practitioners in teaching and industry. Students confidently presented and defended their research findings before the committees. Many projects demonstrated rigorous research methodologies, systematic analysis, and practical solution proposals. The committees highly evaluated the applicability of the projects, while also providing constructive feedback to help students refine their work prior to final submission and archival.

After the defense sessions, student Vu Pham My Duyen shared her reflections on the graduate learning journey:
“After completing the defense, I felt relieved and happy to have overcome such a major challenge. It was a journey into which I invested a great deal of dedication and effort. The master’s program at UEF not only helped me enhance my professional knowledge but also strengthened my critical thinking, self-learning, and research skills. What I appreciate most is the dedication of the lecturers - those who have accompanied and supported me throughout the journey, not only academically but also through lessons that go beyond textbooks. I believe the knowledge and skills I have gained will help me work more effectively in the future.”

With positive evaluations across all defense sessions, students from the 2023 and 2024 cohorts have successfully concluded their master’s journey after a period of dedicated effort. This milestone provides a solid foundation for them to continue developing their expertise and contributing to businesses and the community through the knowledge and experience they have gained. UEF also congratulates them on this important milestone and believes they will continue to achieve many successes in the journey ahead.
